I visited the King's Head for the first time recently with friends who are also discerning drinkers. The pub is attractive and has a cosy old time low- ceilinged charm and the bar staff are friendly and proficient.
However, it fell down badly on the quality of the ales. We drank three of the four Shepherd Neame ales on offer and all of them were unacceptably out of condition to the point of being practically flat. We have enjoyed the "pride of Faversham" for many years around Kent and in London but not on this occasion. They were among the worst pints of Shepherd Neame we have had. I'm posting this review in the constructive hope that things will improve. Better luck next time perhaps?

Friendly crowded pub. Sadly tied to Shepherd Neame so not much variety on the cask ale front. Good food. Service can be a little lacking at times if not a regular? Music

Very nice pub. Well kept beer, excellent staff and nice atmosphere. Nice decor too. In a market increasingly vandalised with Farrow & Ball colour schemes, bleached ropes and piles of pebbles, this seaside pub retains a charming, timeless feel. Delightful.

Utterly delightful pub. Good beer, ideal location and good decor. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly too!

Lunchtime visit, enjoyed Harveys from a wide range of real ales. Landlord knowledgeable: a proper pub.

My type of pub! Went in on Monday evening and was immediately struck by the decor, clientele and the owner, Graham. I am not even going to criticise the pub for running out of the two handpumped ales (these things happen!), but will say that I agree with previous posts (great when the weather's wild!), and wish I had a local like it! The curry afterwards was excellent too!

been going to this pub for 30 years - love it - don't know why, it's a bit like cheers, always someone in there you know - so cosey and freindly - lovely in summer with the outside sea view area, and great to be holed up on a blustery winter's day with the fires burning

Nice old style english seaside public house good pint and nice meal prices reasonable in the current market.can get a bit draughty as on the seafront so watch where you sit unless you not bothered.a bit on the dark side in there but adds a bit to the quaint atmosphere a good place to have a pleasant drink in nice surroundings and good grub too plenty of choices and the quality is good too and its pretty clean and friendly.recommended!

We went for lunch here twice - 2 adults, 2 kids and plenty of choice for all of us, even though we are vegetarian. Fresh and plentiful salads and great chips plus good service. A very old fashioned pub which some will love and some find dated but it is what it is. The outside is quite something, as the owners grow flowers all over the facade. Tourists looking for a traditional English Pub will find it here.

used this pub a couple of times when staying in Deal last year, food and beer were reasonably good and a decent pub atmosphere

A popular pub and hotel in a sea-front facing square. Real ale from Shepherd Neame and others was in good condition in September this year. The interior decor relies on Tudor-type half-timbering - dark rough-hewn wood and so on. It's quite cosy if you like that sort of thing. The pub grub seemed to be doing well during the Saturday lunchtime I was there, catering for a mainly elderly clientele.
We returned in the evening and found the place busy with younger drinkers sheltering from the torrential rain and enjoying the intimate atmosphere. Well, it was packed.
