an out and out back street locals pub. Good beer, but not a pub I would like to stay for a session

An excellent back street local now as the tap for nearby Burton Old Cottage brewery. Still only 5 minutes or so from the railway station.

it is good to see that proper old fashioned locals pubs with decent ale manage to survive like this. The oak brew I tried went down well.

Didnt expect to find anywhere to rival the Coopers on a recent Burton crawl but this place did. Excellent range of beers, of which their own Oak was a lovely pint, and we tried several of the guests which were equally good, but I cant remember what they were now....

Old fashioned friendly boozer selling good quality Old cottage ales as well as guest beers,

Another excellent Burton alehouse with a room either side of the bar (one showing the football) and a small snug to the left as you go in. Numerous ales on (about 8 I think on this visit) sampled the Oak ale which was another excellent pint.

Decent locals' local. Intrusive CCTV though. 7/10

Worth a visit when in Burton - round the corner from the Town Hall.
Slightly old fashioned but cared for.
Oak Ale and Nethergate beers were superb.

A very good backstreet pub .There is a wide range of real ales including "Old Cottage" brewery The Oak Ale was good and the staff friendly.Nicely refurbished interior which is pleasantly clean and tidy , as were the toilets !

this pub is definitely on a different day from last review, the beer was excellent, the bogs clean but not overpowering and the staff helpfull.

A regular outlet for beers from the Burton Old Cottage brewery I was keen on visiting. The pub is not, however, one of the best in Burton, and is sadly a bit average. It has the attraction of several rooms, but none quite manage to offer any charm - the place simply feels scruffy and has a sort of Chatham chav, plastic feel to it. I was particularly put off by the intense chemical toilet cleaner smell which pervaded the place. Credit given though for offering the Old Cottage cask ales, and the place might be better on a different day when the toilets don't smell so much.
