Well we called in today after a 40 minute drive and it was locked, shut and closed with a for sale board up. The man from the Church House opposite said the Seven Stars South Tawton had been closed now for 8 months, the kitchen and bar and furniture have been stripped out and the owner is selling it as a residential house as the pub never managed to make a profit. I called back as the previous owner owed me £10 change from a painting I bought off him but looks like that has also gone forever. Another lost pub. Just google it to confirm

An interesting pub in a lovely village in a corner of Dartmoor with many great pubs.
Quirky and different inside with a small bar area.
A little off the beaten track and would visit here again if in the area.

Visited for the first time for Sunday lunch. Yes, the beers are great and there's even a surprisingly good selection of lagers. But - and it's a big but - the real news here is the food. It was the best roast beef lunch I've ever had. Astonishingly good. The chef works here most evenings, too, and trained at Mill Street in Chagford and in North Bovey. Highly recommended. Oh, the village is nice and attractive, too.

A lovely place poked away and was ideal for our party of 25 on Friday lunchtime. The staff coped admirably with our orders and we all seemed to eat well. For Ale fans there was Cotleigh Golden Seahawk and the Devonian omnipresent that is Otter Ale. Both were good and seemed well kept. Thoroughly recommended.

The seven stars was an excellent locals pub with three ales and local cider when it was run by my family nearly twenty years ago. Following this it became more of a resturant but following another change of ownership I hear it has gone back to being a proper pub again. I must go back soon.
