Why, what was wrong with it before? I thought it had a certain smoky charm to it. And a variety of beers often including unusual ales. I sympathise with the wish for cute barstaff but do we need yet another 'bar'?

Now called Acorn20
Went in the other day.
Beers nice and cold.
What a difference. Sexy blonde barstaff.very cute.

To be 'Acorn Urban Bar and Kitchen' according to planning applications. OMG WTF...

The Artful Dodger has gone. No signs outside to say what'll happen to it. Another one bites the dust...

This is the only pub in Kingston I go to out of choice. Its the only place you can have a few quiet beers with yer mates, a game of pool, or maybe ramp it up a bit on the jukebox. The Kronenberg is nice too. A little birdie told me this may be gone soon as its being turned into a "bar". PLEASE GOD NO!!! Kingston does not need another stupid bar. If you want weird loud music bar cadia is only over the road. Please leave the dodger in its simplist form

BAD WINE, NEEDS A REFURB

For a pub in the centre of Kingston, it's not bad. The barman on duty was friendly & the prices were reasonable too.
|
good place to sit and chill good feel to this place, well run and good friendly people all round

went here 2 months back and the service for awful. old speckled hen off so they suggested john smiths - yeah right very similar!!
|
A proper pub and as the landlord drinks real ale there is often and interesting guest available from Downton
|
I have to agree. The Dodger is actually a pub, and feels like one which, when you consider that a lot of Kingston 'pubs' are menageries-cum-kindergartens, is quite an achievement. Keep the unusual ales coming also!
|
New Food Menu starts on Saturday 25th February 2006. The pub has gone through many transitions in the past year or so. New Management, New Stock, Better Choices, Reasonable Prices by Kingston's standards and most importantly, lots and lots of new faces. It has become a very warm & welcome place to drink and socialise in Kingston without having to venture to the town centre bars to feel like your out on a day trip the zoo. Good spot for watching the footie any day of the week, 3 tv's, and an excellent juke box. Nice mixture of people and age ranges. Over 21's on Friday and Saturday nights which means you dont get the "kiddies" falling about the place by 9 O'Clock. Worth a visit
|
New landlord does try out eclectic real ales so it may be the place to go for a rarity or one you haven't tried before.
|
I was pleasantly suprised when I actually went inside the place - barman was friendly, they DID have real ale when I was there (Adnams), an eclectic jukebox and pool table.
|
A friendly pub, not bad at all for a chilled out drink with friends.
|
Spend a lot of time here (close to work) staff are great. Beware the dodgy decking in the garden tho

Yuck. Godforsaken excuse for a pub - even the atmosphere is hostile, and seems to smell of vomit on a regular basis. I hope it gets turned into somewhere worth visiting

Okay though no real ale. Attractive ?East European barmaid a nice draw.
|
Been here twice. The first time we only came in because my boyfriend needed the toilet in the middle of a shopping spree, so we thought we better buy a drink too. But no one was behind the bar for ages so we left. Second time we actually had a drink or 4 since there was staff this time! Juke box is great! I would definately go back.

very good pub now.... new landlord who definately knows what its all about and how to run a decent pub. The staff are very friendly. Definately the place to go before you head off into Kingston nightclubs, and you'll save yourself money on your drinking, which means you can have more!!! - bargain!!

I ahd a fantastic night out on saturday, i stood at the bar with my lady friend all night, we did a bit of smooching and then someone wearing a spank me badge did a little dance and dedicated it to me - my lady friend was not as impressed as me, but saw the funny side when i gave the young lady in question a well deserved spank!

awful pub, horrific customer service. it seems to attract the wrong kind of punters - eg a drunken girl wearing a "SPANK ME" badge around her neck.. awful.
|
the barmen are very freindly, and eager to please. i shall visit it again soon to see a certain barman.. cough cough Lee xxx E
|
Barmen are very friendlyh - a bit over friendly in the case of...er...anyway, only bad thing is taht JUKEBOX is mispelt..other than that - a wikid night out
krisstina - 27 Oct 2002 22:56 |
Dirty smelly horrible little pub and the staff would explode should they attempt to smile or to be polite to a customer.
Troy - 18 Aug 2002 19:30 |
Very small and lively pub.I wouldn't recommend the 'beer garden' though.A gloomy little paved area complete with decrepit old benches and clouds of flies from the nearby bins.Good meeting place from Kingston station.
