Captain Digby, Broadstairsback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Having just enjoyed a fine lunchtime pint of Doom Bar at this quirky pub, I thought I would come on here and give the place a plug. The Captain Digby looks like a little castle perched on the cliffs just north of Broadstairs. The view from the beer garden is simply superb, the food perfectly acceptable and the staff were all exceptionally friendly. Plus there were four ales on which is more than I was expecting. I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone in the area.

We've been to the Captain Digby a couple of times now - the latest this week - having spent the day at one of the (many) lovely beaches nearby.
It's quite an imposing looking place, perched on the cliff, with fantastic views out to sea. We have always found it to be good value, with good food and service. They had a couple of real ales on at my last visit but opted for a strong continental lager myself as had been sat in the sun all day and was gasping for something cold - job done!
There's an indoor play area for kids and also one outside, although this was shut on ou most recent visit - something about the cliff being a bit dodgy and some strengthening work being needed (which was underway) before it could re-open.
If you're in the area/been at the beach all day then you can do a lot worse than give this place a try.

Basically this is a family oriented restaurant with the 'pub' as a secondary thing. Beers okay, service reasonable (vying with eaters' orders), although not much seating for drinkers. Restaurant is big, can be noisy with kids (and parents). Service when there a few weeks back was quick (end of the weekend serving day) and the place a bit quieter apart from the all-to-common family with undisciplined kids and adults who don't give a toss about other people. Food was okay, nothing to write home about, although the portions were large, perhaps because it was near closing time. Probably better lunchtimes during a schoolday.

They had 2 real ales , Spitfire and a Adnams. As mentioned here the problem is the parking, for people heading to the beach they can buy a carpark ticket for �10. The ones who use it as a free parking can be clamped and the removal fee is �100.
Didn't know how they check it so did not bother to have a meal here.
The Spitfire was fine so was the service.

Large pub in a great location. Wasn't a great selection of beers on when I was there.
The food was ok though I agree with previous comments regarding the service.
Decent enough but there are better pubs in the area to visit.

Great location and good food. The service could be better however the real choker is the car parking which you could be charged for if you are not careful

We popped in yesterday (Sunday) for a bite to eat and a drink.
Firstly, the service was attrocious from a guy who clearly didnt want to be there.I very nearly apologised for inconveniencing him when I needed serving
There were no bar snacks or that type of thing being served, which was a bit strange and dissapointing as we only wanted a baguette/sandwich each(surely not everyone wants a full sit down meal on a warm Summers day) but only main meals were available and the cheapest we could find was just under a tenner a head from the very tacky looking laminated home drawn menu.
A pint of house lager and a Diet Coke cost me just 10p shy of a fiver.
So whilst the views from outside overlooking the cliffs are truly spectacular, I would hesitate about another visit as the prices seem a tad high for what really was only standard type of pub fayre.

had a very nice meal in here about a year ago, not a specialist ale place and I cant remember what I was supping, but it was exeptable, I think this a very popular locals restaurant and you'd probably need to book if you want a table in the evening, we where here on a Thursday evening and it was very busy,definetely more a restaurant than a pub and is located in a lovely cliffside position with a great big childrens play area in the nice beer garden I'll give it a 7.5
