Horse and Groom Inn, Bourton On The Hillback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Recently taken over by Butcombe Brewery so their ales on the handpulls. San Miguel was my drink of choice given the warm weather yesterday, consumed in the fabulous rear garden.

Lacks some of the cosiness that other Cotswolds pubs have as it is a Georgian building so is pretty "open plan" with bright lighting, a new bar counter and a modern-looking wooden floor. Nice duck-egg window seats and shutters and plenty of hunting pictures. Our visit this afternoon was enjoyable because this seemed like a real pub rather than some pretentious gastro place. The £3 Cotswold Cask from the local Cotswold Brewing Co. was good with Hook Norton's Lion and Goff's Jouster also available. Cider was from Hogan's and the lagers were also from CBC with Becks Vier in addition. A small glass of Merlot was £4.70. Note that this pub is not open all day - we arrived just before the 3pm closing time and only realised that they might want to close when the barmaid left 30 minutes later!

A truly excellent example of what a modern village pub can be. Scrubbed up Cotswold stone inside with tasteful, restrained interior design. Well kept ales from local breweries - the Wye Valley Bitter was especially fine. Imaginative yet unpretentious cooking rules, and it was all delicious, but not to the extent of pushing drinkers out. Ordering from one blackboard at the bar can be a pain - but this inn comes highly recommended for good reason. Not to be missed.

Visited on Sunday 6 March with Mrs Monk, during a weeks sojourn in the Cotswolds. Wonderful pub, doesnt look much from the outside but the inside has been well designed, being light airy and with high ceilings. Had a superb Sunday lunch of roast lamb washed down with excellent Goffs Jouster. Why arent there any pubs approaching this standard of excellence where we live?9/10

Wonderful place to stay. Good food, beer, rooms etc. Lovely walks in area.

A pretty decent pub near the top of the hill in this well named village. When we visited there were 3 Ales on sale - Goffs Jouster, Wye Valley Dorothy Goodbodys bitter and Battledown Cheltenham Spa. They appear to be a Free House in the correct sense. We didn't eat, but the food seemed very popular. The Garden, where we spent a good hour was pleasant enough. This is a good place to visit if you are in the area.

A welcome stop after a walk up the hill from Moreton. I had a pint of locally-made organic wheat beer and read the weekend newspapers. The food menu looked appetising, the surroundings were comfortable and the staff were friendly.

smashing pub in a hill top setting, the family that own this pub are doing a great job, friendly staff and they all know what they are talking about, beer was fantastic and food a delight, they also do accommodation which sounded good after over hearing a conversation, can't fault the pub at all!
