A friendly pub with welcoming staff and locals. I have been here a few times now and the food has been excellent - I recommend the homemade pies!

Had sunday lunch and a cracking pint of oxford gold here today, whilst not as cheap as the weatherspoons just down the road its well worth the visit

Used to like this pib, good ales and prices but was let down by unfriendly staff and lack of ale choice. Needs to watch as going down hill, please pull it back.
|
This is a grand little pub in the backstreets, nice staff, pleasant atmosphere and good, well kept ales. Keep up the good work...!!
|
Small range of real ales, but well kept. Nice little covered smoking area with chairs and tables. Food is quality pub grub.
|
Log fire, decent wines, great food, ales on tap, friendly regulars, its got my vote.
|
A massive improvement since the reburb. Very friendly and is ovbviously a family run business. Would Definetly return. Good surroundings and great beers.
|
A definate improvement. Now a nice place with friendly staff and good beer.

I once made the mistake of calling into the Town House a couple of years ago - I swore I would never set foot in there again. Horrific, dirty, smelly dive and the temporary landlady was drunk!
It has been taken over - my god, what a difference! It's got the lot: bright, clean, airy, friendly banter, great food, live music on Fridays, free wifi, switch payments and a mix of customers from the oldies to the young students who come in on Sundays for their weekly roast, and at 6.95 it's good value too.
It has probably the least "aggro" atmosphere of any pub I have ever been in. One of the girls in there told me that she felt perfectly ok going into THAT pub on her own............ not many places can say that these days.
The only downside is that it's not a huge place and the locals do sit on stools around the bar - but saying that, they are very happy to move aside and will even usher you to the bar so you can get served!!
Highly recommended!
PS. Timothy Taylor, London Pride, Brakspear - all top notch and at @ 2.70 ish, not bad value for this neck of the woods.

Last comment is clearly not with the concensus, but don't blame the current owners. This was once a nice pub with great real beer and good music but was ruined by the last lot.
|
I disagree with all the previous comments, it has been transformed from a dusty, smelly, unclean pub where you get stared at if when you walk in by the locals to a great pub. Loads of comfortable sofas, widescreen TV's and great seleciton of wines. Check it out.

To a much better pub

Used to be an old style boozer with decent beers on tap, a friendly landlord and an impossibly cool music selection. Then the management changed and it was "treated" to a major facelift. Now the same as every other faceless pub out there.

Since it changed the management, it has lost almost all its appeal. The interior now is very unattractive and the beer quality isn't the best. It's really a pity.

this pub is leamingtons best kept secret: live music, great beer and a friendly and fun atmosphere. wednesday nights have never been so popular with the prize being a case of beer!

A really surprising pub, great atmosphere, live blues or accoustic every now and again, and watch out for Elvis
