A well-located pub with above average ale and food. Comfortable and welcoming on a Sunday evening, with lots of families dining. The Goachers was well worth a second pint.

We visited 14 pubs on a week's tour of Romney Marsh, and this pub was the best. Superb remote location with a riverside garden at the back and tables in the sun at the front. The old cottage-like interior is attractively decorated; it would be cosy around the inglenook fire in winter. A quiet and civilised atmosphere prevails; no music, just conversation. Good food and refreshing Goacher's Light branded as the house ale. Courteous staff. Highly recommended.

This is a fine place. Fine looking and in a tremendous location. It’s just about hanging onto its pub identity, it is very food orientated and the food is very good if a bit pricey perhaps, but you can still prop up the bar or better, sit outside on a nice day.

Good Ale and Cider festival last weekend.

Visited today...food poorly presented and had no flavourings. Even the mayonnaise was tasteless. Service also needs to be addressed.Basically, another pub doing "pub food" but charging restarant prices! 10 for a Sub-standard Ham,Eggs and chips! Toilets also a let down! Passed comments on but was told "thats the way the chef likes to do it"..behave,,its YOUR business...Prima Donna chefs!

I fail to understand why this wouldn't be everybody's kind of pub, for it seems to offer a particularly obvious set of advantages. It is a charming old building set in an equally beautiful countryside location, which looks out on fields. On a glorious summer's day - which it happened to be on my visit - the picket-fenced garden is idyllic for a few drinks. Inside is a central bar and various alcoves for drinkers and eaters alike. Food looks like it'd be worthwhile: a substantial menu featuring some mouthwatering options is available, but alas we'd already taken lunch and they'd ceased serving by 4 when we arrived. Prices were high. But show me somewhere in this vicinity where they ain't? The beers were in good order, although this isn't presently a GBG-listed venue. Really, we could've whiled away hours here into dusk, were it not for time constraints. Do try it and see for yourselves.

Only a brief, post-cricket visit but on the face of it,my kind of pub. I think there were 3 real ales but I wasn't buying on this occasion so I wasn't paying much attention to be homest (I know, I know !). What came back was a decent drop of beer - I think named after the pub. Sorry if this is unusually vague but I was chatting to other team members while the designated Bar Steward (who I noticed consulted the locals for a recommendation) got them in ! The pub consists of a small public bar at the front with a more restaurant feel round the back and I have to say that the food looked fantastic. As it was a very pleasant evening, we sat at one of the numerous tables outside as we talked through the details of a "losing" draw :-) I'd definitely return if in the area but it's not really local for me, unfortunately.

Welcoming barman, and an excellent ale selection.

A really pleasant little pub out on the marsh with a large seating area out the front and again, a large seating area out the back. Nice beers. Friendly staff and in a quiet location to get away from all the noise. Good food and a big games room with pool table, machines and large TV for the kids Only downer, which isn't any fault of the staff is the canal behind the pub can get a bit pongy on a hot day
