I agree with the last comment. Food orientated but friendly. In fact I was pleasantly suprised as to how good it was. I thought it might be too far removed from being a real pub. We chose it as it was part way along our day's walking route. Nice outdoor seating on a v. sunny day.
I asked about the house beer and was told it is St Austell Tinners. They also had Yeovil Ales BST which was also v. good. There was a third choice as well.
Both of us enjoyed very nice food from the lighter bites menu.

Foody sort of a place, but an attractive pub with friendly service and reasonably priced beer - the only pint I had in Dorset for less than 3 quid.I think the Sydling bitter is re-badged Otter. Would visit again if passing.

Well, I imagine prices will go up now that the ex GMTV Fiona Phillips and her husband have bought it. I'll wait for others to review it, as I feel she might put me off whatever beer is available.

Agree with the previous comments about this pub being more geared to diners than drinkers. Although it did appear to be popular for food. We sat on the stools in the bar area. Three real ales were on offer - Wadworth 6X, Sydling Bitter and an Amber Ale. I'm not sure who brewed the latter two. Nice location. But it's a shame that many village pubs are too reliant on food these days.

Been here twice now, in a futile attempt to get lunch. Both times there was plenty of empty seats available but the proprietor informed us that they were 'all booked up'. Real shame as it's a nice pub pub in a lovely location. Actually, it appears to now be a 'gastro pub' so no look out really - the few stools at the bar were the only place you could have a pint, without encrouching on the diners. Very depressing really, given the number of rural pubs closing at the moment. Won't be trying here again.

Went here yesterday, but was amazed at how much the price of food has increased. Just had a drink, and moved on. A pity really, as I usually rave about how good this place is.

Lovely location and lovely pub. Beer ok. Food a bit hit and miss. Partner's beef baguette - very good. My Salad Nicoise - no tuna, no anchovies and was tiny for 8 !! Bit of salad with a poached egg on top. Dreadful. My partner complained to the waitress. She said she would get the manager. Nobody came!

Excellent country pub in tranquil, out-of-the-way location. Very friendly welcome, efficient staff, well-kept beers (Speckled Hen was spot-on) and good menu at fairly reasonable prices.

This is my all-time favourite pub. The beer is consistently good; the food is absolutely superb, and the service is spot on. A real gem, which we discovered in the 1970's, when it was crap. We have seen it grow into the wonderful establishment which it now is.

nicely presented eating place, but certainly not much resemblance to a traditional country inn. ales limited in choice to 6X, Old Speckled Hen and a re-badged St Austel Tinner's (Sydling)...so not spectacular choice, but reasonable condition. book in advance for Sunday lunch. pretty village...chattering classes in high proportion.

Found this pub and the food is out of this world. Would recomend the Greyhound inn to any body.
BUT please dont tell the grockles about it we would like somewhere in the somer to come and get away from the crowds. Great beer as well, nice olde country pub.

Good beers and restaurant standard food in a picturesque village. Perfect for a lazy Sunday lunchtime...
