Visited this pub for the first this weekend. The beer was excellent with a good choice of Fullers ales all in good condition. Food was excellent with a wide range of foods including a fair bit of game and fish and thankfully not all with chips. Plenty of different eating areas including one where we could take the dog. Everywhere was clean and tidy including loos and the staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking and nice beer garden if the weather is right.

Too many ales on offer and all poorly presented. Basic training needs to be given to all staff members on beer keeping and pint pouring. The pint I was served with looked like a pint of cold tea and nothing like the picture of London Pride you see in the advert. Are Fullers aware of this poor performance? I suspect that monies from room letting ensures this place breaks even - it certainly isn't from bar revenues. No atmosphere, No management presence, No expertise, No training, No head(on my beer).

Revisted this pub after a few months absence expecting to find that the new licensees would have made something of the place. The Pride was good but sadly the food was some of the worst pub food I have had. Items served were not as described on the menu ( a tart with no pastry, and chicken wrapped in bacon - with no bacon. We had to ask for other items supposed to have been served with it. Chips greasy and ccooked in old oil). Staff not particulary concerned. Someone on here previously described the place as souless and this is an apt description. Not up to the standards expected of Fullers and I wonder whether the beer standards will also fall. It was certailnly much better than this under the old licensees. I will not be returning and there are better all round pubs not too far away.

Glad to see ESB available and in good nic - as was the London Pride. But this place seems rather souless - expensive food as well. Not one of Fullers' better offerings but OK.

Excellent food, Great menu, friendly staff, well kept ales, Advisable to prebook for a sunday lunch, well worth a visit!

Recently re-discovered this after some years. It's got a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and we had a lovely meal on both occasions. I don't think it was always a Fullers pub, and I'd have been back sooner if I had realised I lived that close to a pint of London Pride!
As someone else has pointed out, you can take your dog as well, and that's a big bonus these days.

Went to The Fishermans for a drink last Tuesday. Very friendly and competent service from the girl on the bar. Lovely pub

I've always liked this pub I find the atmosphere very pleasant and have done so under a number of managers. There is a variety of quite reasonable food but nothing to prevent you just sinking a few if you so wish. Yes, the 49er is very good but I find the ESB extremely acceptable. And if you have a well-behaved dog they don't object.

Its ok....somewhere to go, somewhere to eat.....usede to be better whe Basil Fawlty type ran it......

Was there the other day...best pint of Ringwood 49er i've had in the Christchurch area, really great Scampi and chips. Lots of doggies and laughing old ladies. Could be worse!

A restaurant, not really a pub.

We go to The Fishermans Haunt fairly often, and so far have had a good meal there. We preferred it when they had the restaurant with proper waitress service, without ordering from the bar, as it made a nice change for an evening out- particularly if you wanted to treat friends to a meal out. Still enjoy going there though.

The Fishermans Haunt is an expensive eatery. It is a licensed restaurant, and I cannot wonder why they still keep up this pub pretence? Anyway, they still sell real ale - but they really should focused totally on fine wines and good food. If you like these things, then you must go to this place. If you are a purist, and like an genuine ale house, then you must avoid it. One thing is for sure, no fisherman has ever haunted this very foody establishment.

Used to do the best Steak and Kidney pie around for miles. Has gotten slightly worse of late; but nonetheless, still can get a nice pint and a decent bite to eat.
