Has had a much-needed lick of paint and is advertising that cask ale is available. Not been in though.

I walked past this pub on Saturday night but wasn't tempted to go in. It's a two room pub both were almost empty. A few years ago when it was a live music venue it was very popular at weekends. How things change.

Went in here for the first time in a couple of years recently prior to a Tranmere Rovers game. Pretty much as I remember it except for two changes - it is no longer a live music venue and there were three handpumps. However two were out of action and the other was dispensing Bombardier. I swerved the ale and had a Carlsberg instead. The place was crowded with lager swilling footy fans and I didn't see anyone buy a Bombardier.

Well following a change in management this was worth another go, 3 real ales on Green King IPA,Bombadier and a Conwy ale. Much better pint this time. 1st thing in the morning so a few customers were in for an early pint. Friendly banter all round.

Most shocking pint of ale served to us ever.......was vile, tasted like vinegar, undrinkable unless you had an iron gut....swiftly moved on,wont be returning there again....criminal to serve ale in poor condition.A gent came up to us and said put your money behind the bar,its cheap beer......he didnt seem to bothered that we were all cringing at our pints of vile EPA ..we even put a coin in the glass.and it was so acidic it cleaned the 2p..that bad.never tried asking for money back as it wasnt worth arguing over........AVOID

went up to the sportsmans where the same ale was served in quality fashion.

Non flashy pub with three hand pumps, two of which were working. English Pale Ale at 1.89 per pint and Draught Bass at 2.15 per pint. Beer well kept and friendly bar staff. Visited at lunchtime prior to a match at Prenton Park and there was plenty of room and quick service. Stocks Crabbies as well.

A rough and ready pub on a major crossroads.
Definitely nothing special about the beer.
Frequented by lager swillers.
I only occasionaly go in here if there is a good band playing on a Friday or Saturday night.
