Generic pub for these troubled times for us the patrons. a small tv in the corner no jukebox but a few guest ales and peroni on tap being the saving grace.large pub but again not a local with character or indeed any soul .take you granparents their for sunday lunch(alive or dead) no one will notice......

If there was a competition for the slowest pub bar staff in Britain then I'd certainly stick a few quid on the Kings Head to win.
More of a restaurant these days, clinging onto the ideal that it is still a pub.

Nice pub, tasty food & wine reasonably priced, delicious carrot cake cheesecake. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend the Kings Head and will definitely be going back even if it is just for some more of that cheesecake!

Nice decor but that is about all. Took my sister for lunch there last Friday as it seem to have a very good menu. Waited for an hour for a simple burger and bit of chicken and it turned up stone cold. Staff were dead rude when we told them it was cold. No apology and totally rude. Would not recommend this place! Very deceiving as looks nice when you go in but service sucks!

Large carpeted pub decorated in a modern style with plenty of different seating areas and seating types. Quiet music was playing on my lunchtime music today. The pub had at least 1 fruit machine and 1 games machine. Drinks and food menus were on each table. Cask ales available were Rudgate Ruby Mild, Greene King IPA and Thirsty Dragon, TT Landlord and London Pride. I don't normally like pubs with a modern decoration. But there was something about this one that appealed.

This is the best `Ember Inn` we have visited, good choice of real ales, helpful barman and decent pub grub. The layout of the pub is much improved on the 2 previous revamps in the 90`s with decent sitting out area at back away from road.

if you like real ale then this is worthwhile visit as there is constantly changing selection of well served beer. Although the decor and furniture resemble a furniture store and therefore creates a lack of atmosphere, the beer more than compensates.

My friend and I went for a meal at the King's Head a few weeks ago on a Monday evening. Our meals took over an hour to arrive and when they did they were both cold (they had clearly forgotten all about it)We had a pudding too and the icecream in mine was full of shards of ice which suggests it had been re-frozen which is very dangerous food poisoning wise. We go to this pub quite a lot because it is convenient but I have to say the staff can be very slow and the overall experience is disappointing. I think being next to Chingford Police Station doesn't add to the ambience!

I love this little local. The service is great the food is tasty and the ale quality is very much improved since the new lad is doing the cellar. the chioce and variety makes a welcome change

Have visited this pub a few times and liked it. Today was sorely disappointed in very poor service. Waited one hour and forty minutes for a meal that was booked in advance. Was presented with a shepherds pie frozen in the middle. Politely sent it back . Received same meal again, but now the accompanying veg were cremated as it appeared to have been back to the microwave for a second visit. NOT GOOD ENOUGH... Management please take note..there are other places to eat in Chingford.

I previously posted a review having a moan about the charm of the bar staff. On my latest visit I was pleasantly surprised. The bar staff couldn't have been nicer. Beer and surroundings still excellent.Keep up the good work!!!

The best comment has to be "IKEA showroom with beer". Two refurbishments ago this was a great little boozer. One consolation the beer is still OK. Some interesting brews were available at the recent Embers Inn Beer Festival. Good beer, shame about the decor!

good quiz night on a wednesday even though the questions are easy , its just that i find the answers difficult.

Well where do we start? The pub like many nowadays looks like a furniture showroom full of assorted chairs and sofa's where you half expect to see a price tag attached. Assorted pictures and modern "bits and pieces" that you see in any similar pub. As a regular Guinness drinker I have become used to badly trained staff not pouring my fav tipple in the correct and time honoured way but this guy took the biscuit! One quite the "one pour" pint but almost, give or take the half inch he left to finish it off. My girlfriend said her wine tasted flat and I did notice that it came from the back of the wine bucket and barely filled the required measure (perhaps it had been siiting there some time?) We both ordered the steak which didn't come cooked as we ordered but was ok. My girlfriend said the second glass of wine was better and my Guinness was poured in a better style by a different barperson. Overall not the worst pub We,ve ever been in but could do better.
PS If you are a Guinness drinker, avoid a short chunky curly haired male barperson.

Been in this pub twice and found the beer and surroundings to be excellent. What lets this establishment down is the staff who need to go back to charm school.

IKEA showroom with beer.

Pleasant surroundings, unpleasant staff - not at all accommodating for under 18's. Unreasonable and snobbish. Swiftly turning into a pub suitable only for retired Conservatives. Food is a bit pricey too.

Great pub, six real ales on all the time, good atmostphere, friendly staff - excellent

Nice pub, but food not that great. You won't get served if you have children with you.
