Good Beer Guide 2020. Practically in the castle grounds - so nice to have a good experience when it could have been a tourist rip off place.
Food, Service - cheap and good.
Beer - a Cairngorms Trade Winds was the best pint I had across three cities and many pubs

A hotel, but with a fair-sized bar and room and a couple of Orkney ales on which were promptly served in good nick by friendly staff.
It can get busy with tourists in season, unsurprisingly, and you can expect to pay old town prices. All the same, this makes a better choice for refreshment when visiting Stirling castle than the castle's own eaterie.

OK if a little barn-like on my visit in June. Reasonable beer. Handy for the castle.

Had a couple of pints in here over the Xmas period. Both pints I had were Scottish micro brews and were in very god condition. Place was quite busy, decent atmosphere and the bar staff very efficient and friendly.

I posted this wrongly on the Porters Bar - shriek! Too much beer! This is how we found the Portcullis last October half-term 2008.
Having just enjoyed a visit to the excellent castle, what better place to rest your weary legs. The An Teallach beer was spot on and the young lad behind the bar very welcoming and very informed about his beers. I fancy coming back to stay sometime. Well done!

Late comment, butb we enjoyed Isle of Skye and Fyne beers here in August.

Fairly good pub, lovely surroundings and beer garden, 2 real ales on. Food looked good but pricy.
