A step back in time to a back street, purely locals pub. Serves the estate very well. Just one beer, Youngs but it was fine. Chelsea memorabilia throughout hough.

Last place I would want to have a beer in again, Landlord needs to learn some manners.

We went on a pub crawl last weekend and this pub was one of our stops.
Great beer garden, good beer garden and friendly people, what more could you want...
Well... maybe not so many chelsea shirts hanging up in the bar..

This place used to keep turning up in the Good Beer Guide. Unless the landlord had some incriminating pictures of the SW London CAMRA committee and was blackmailing them, or they're all Chelsea fans, I can't begin to see why. Unless you're a Chelsea fan, give it a body swerve. If you're a racist as well, you'll really fit in...

Locals pub tucked away practically in a housing estate. Youngs Ordinary and Doom Bar were the two real ales available with a 3rd unused handpull. There are no real ciders. The Chelsea connections are clear, with many pictures and posters. Although many of the walls and windows were also covered in England flags for the World Cup. The Uruguay v South Korea match was the subject of attention on the TV for the male drinkers during my visit. Although there were a couple of women preparing for a birthday party in the corner. There is a fruit machine and a dartboard, complete with plenty of trophies above it. The pub is carpeted and the wooden bar has a couple of nice decorative tiles near the floor at one side. Fairly friendly and definitely down-to-earth. A completely different experience to most of today's modern gastropubs. I'm glad such places continue to exist. But this place was a bit out of the way to warrant a return visit and not being a Chelsea fan, it's not for me.

There were a couple of real ales on during my midweek lunchtime visit Youngs Bitter and (Marstons?) Resolution. The resolution was excellent, and at 2.80 a pint pretty reasonably priced (for London anyway). They dont do food at lunchtimes. Im not sure about other times, but I would suspect not. The Chelsea affiliation remains, as mentioned by previous posters, manifested by numerous team photos and suchlike on the walls and over the bar. There was a large flatscreen TV, but switched off when I was in, and presumably its only switched on when there is something worth watching luckily Loose Women seems to be deemed to fall outside that criteria! There were a couple of dartboards, which looked as if they were well used, especially with the mass of trophies on display above one of them. There was a one-armed bandit flashing away by one of the walls, and some music being played not too loudly when I came in, but when the CD or whatever finished after a few minutes the ensuing silence was only interrupted by one of the handful of locals having a word with the landlady, or the workings of the cash register.
As you would expect in what is evidently a locals backstreet pub, furnishings were normal tables, and normal chairs with a sort of red velvelette covering, plus a few high stools at the bar. Floor covering is a mainly red carpet. Theres also a small outside covered area for smokers. The light wood bar counter looks as if it was the result of an inter-war refit. These are the typical furnishings of the sort of pub that we saw on many street corners 30 or 40 years ago. I felt very comfortable in here. A previous poster mentions that this is a late Victorian pub from the 1890s, but unfortunately there are no original interior features remaining from its Victorian past.
This is one of the dying breed of unpretentious backstreet boozers that I like so very much. I would be very happy to pay a return visit to this clean, comfortable and welcoming pub.

A very pleasant, traditional Ale house off the South Lambeth & Wandsworth roads.

Despite the decor, the wierd "pissed paddy" built brick fire place and the Chelsea pictures on the wall, this is a very good pub, tucked off between the Wandsworth rd and South Lambeth Road. Well worth a visit. Wish the brewery would spend some dosh tidying it up inside however, it's an original 1890s beer palace, crying out for a traditional makeover.

A very pleasant back street local with excellent beer and very good simple bar meals. I use the pub as a refuge at lunchtimes, somewhere to enjoy one of the guest ales and do the crossword....heaven.
