Why is this awful place on BITE? No real ale - only John Smith's keg crap and Guinness, all served in plastic glasses. AVOID.

Now a Harvester. Ridiculous queues at peak times (to the door - some 30ft away?) . Touch-screen system for staff will convert your simple enquiry / order into a 6 minute prodding ineffectually at screen to ascertain precisely nothing. Don't be alarmed, a few moments into your 'meal' to be accosted with "everything OK" by a staff memeber looking the other way as they say it, and then perhaps again by another one, if they happened to have played some minor role in your time there. Some staff absolutely brilliant, others plain awful.

Now more of a food pub than anything, but is scrubbed up well since the smoking ban. If you just want a drink and sit outside your not allowed to walk through the pub! You have to go out the front door and via a side gate like its some sort of crime..

Good for a pint by the beach and chain pub food. Full of grockles unsurprisingly but very kid friendly.
|
we love this place but beware the new owners m+b they will probably turn it into a high volume beachside cafe. they will lose lots of trade if they lower prices and standards and drag in the dregs.

great place to eat and drink with excellent staff and friendly professional managers.pity its being sold to a greedy bottom line focused company!! hello low prices and trouble, just like wetherspoons.

Sorry. The start of my previous entry should have read 'The Brewers Fayre chain..........etc
|
The Brewers Fayre has now been sold to M & B who intend to convert all of their pubs to Harvesters or Beefeaters. How will we be able to tell the differnce? The blandness continues.

since the new manager took over this year they now have real ale and the place seems much more organised than the chaos that was the durley inn last year. food seems to be delivered a lot quicker too. well done,i will be going regularly.

Location, location, location....very average beer selection (clientele very much lager drinkers); food is typical service station inspired stuff you'd expect in a chain pub. Staff in uniforms..... Best bet is to sit with a beer outside accompanied by one of the delicious bacon butties from the cafe the other side of the road.

Its a pub that is ideally situated to get the punters in. Prices are what you would expect from a large Pub chain. The thing is that people will pay the prices if they want a drink. Nice pub that is great to pop into after walking the promenade

I visted the Durley Inn at the weekend for a meal. As someone who is allergic to nuts, I checked the menu and saw a note advising me to consult with a member of staff when making my order (as I always would). However, when I went to order I was informed that nothing on the menu was nut free. No apology or explanation. They simply weren't interested. Perhaps the menu should be amended to save everyone some time. IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERY, STAY AWAY. THAY CAN'T BE BOTHERED.

A typical Brewer's Fayre outlet; clean and sparkling with "corporate uniformed" staff. Good food at reasonable prices, this pub is at a wonderful location, overlooking the beach at Bournemouth. The big letdown is the unimaginative beer range. No real ale, just bland kegs (Boddington's, Flowers, John Smith's + lagers). Surely one cask-conditioned beer could be made available? Come on Brewewr's Fayre, if you're in the pub trade, offer some decent beer!

Great location and nice for a refreshing pint beside the sea. But once I asked for a Pint of coke and was charged 2.74!!! I wouldnt mind but it came from a wunderbar so it only cost them 10p to make! Shame its a brewers fayre though. It makes it too restaraunty.

I don't think that this place is regarded as awful by us locals it's just that there's nothing that makes it stand out from the crowd. For really awful pubs try some of the watering holes in Boscombe or Kinson. On second thoughts, don't if you value your health.
|
Full of families and tattooed Northerners, but having said that, it's always my first port of call when in the area. It's right by the beach and God, I miss it.
Great place, probably quite awful if you're a local, but as a scumbag Londoner it's the best kick-off pub around, supping the first beers of the night as you watch the sun set over the watery horizon.

They serve good chips here which are great to eat while gazing out to sea. I remember getting very emotional here on the last night out of our time at Uni. Brings tears to my eyes right now. Well, not really. Also a good starting point for Beach Hut Hurdles (running along the rooves of the huts) which I did once with a fractured ankle.

Packed with families at this time of year but that doesn't disguise the fact that this is a same old same old bland Brewers Fayre outlet.
