It's closed, and not before time. Not a great loss. The Chinese restaurant isn't that great either.

Had there Christmas dinner for 12 people. They made errors in order and stubbornly were claiming that I emailed booking with this error (just checked all my correspondence and no, I got it right, they got it wrong, they served wrong food). When it came to pudding (all ordered 2 weeks earlier) they said that they didn't have what we ordered. Talking about late notice, huh? Ok, as a compensation they didn't charge us for a pudding, just for starters and mains. I canceled one of the meals 2 days earlier, and although as it was late cancellation they should have charged me a deposit, they charged full rate. That is because they still served the food - I mean they put extra full plate next to empty chair! Weird. Food was awful - all overcooked, totally cold, potatoes and yorkshire so hard couldn't bite it. Trout bitter and dry. Veg old, cold and kept in the oven until rock hard and black. A pint of Hoegaarden cost me nearly 5. Service - non existing. We will not be back. That's for sure.

I came here on Friday night and had an excellent time. Great atmosphere, attentive staff and good wine selection. Ideal meeting place before heading to the Red Rooms.

I hate this place. It's got no soul and it's quietness on Friday and Saturday evenings illustrate this. The choice of beers are poor and it's over priced. This place needs a shake up and quick, or it will surely become another pub closure statistic for 2009.

Where to start? OK, here we go.......................
Beer wildly overexpensive for such a boring dive. 3.20 for a pint of Carlsberg - are they stark raving mad? Only gets worse from there. Dingy. Doesn't always smell, I suppose. The pub seems to go through more managers than QPR. Food too dear by far. It's a modern day miracle that the place hasn't gone bust yet.
Only go there under protest if others insist on meeting there before leaving to go to a good pub. One out of ten for the sheer audacity of running the place the way they have done over the past couple of years.

I tend to meet here before moving on. Basically it can be va bit vacant/vapid and (because it's opposite a station) seems to just have people passing through.
The drinks aren't inspiring and with ealing all around it has nothing to 'keep' me drinking there.
Also it can get a bit whiffy round the loos etc'. Not terrible, but not worth staying in when you've got loads of other bars to go to very nearby.

How the hell has this place got 6 out of 10?
|
Well, what a mixed bag of reviews !
I can only assume those of you who've liked it had a few drinks before you got there.
Service - poor to non-existant Food - Usual Microwaved Rubbish Cleanliness - Filthy Customers - People who don't know any better or who have been barred from everywhwere else !

Great little place on Ealing High Street. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Will be going back for more!

Dirty drinks, dirty pub.

It's amazing how opinions differ. I was here recently and could not really find fault. I hadn't been here before and I was made very welcome and had a great night. Perhaps they've changed the staff. I would recommend.
|
I could not agree more with the previous comment. The wine that I ordered was WELL off and it was all so much hastle to change it. I had arrived 20 minutes early to meet my boyfriend and the attitude of all of the bar staff stank, they sniggered at me and stared at me as if I was an alien. It was only once my partner arrived and they realised that I was not a women out drinking alone that they began to treat me like a human. however by this time I was more than ready to move on and never return.

This place has a long bar leading to a raised area to the rear of the building with a large plasma screen on the back wall. There is some very limited seating outside the front of the pub which is directly opposite Ealing Broadway station with a busy bus stop 10 feet away.
This feels like a bar where all the cool people drink bog standard lagers with funky background music, low seating and high tables everywhere. However, I did notice that they had Adnams Broadside but I didnt try it.
This isnt really my sort of place as the attitude of the barman suggested!
