I went into this pub tonight, a Friday night. There was a female DJ. She was shit. Clueless. Virtually everybody left the pub during her stint. Notice to the owner: don't employ this shit DJ any more. She empties your pub!
I mean, Friday night in Belfast - and a pub that should be heaving is empty! FFS!

Seriously loud. Full of young people, no where to sit much less stand, live music ended early and then pumped in pop at ear piercing levels.

Pub for students and farmers. Terrible pints and sticky counters and the worst queue for the ladies I have ever seen. Staff are useless and I would give it a wide berth

Not the best of places to drink.... okay if you're with a mob. The real beer was poor - can only think it's in the guide because there are so few outlets for proper beer in the province.

My experience of this pub was probably helped by the fact that we visited early on a Friday evening when it was still fairly quiet. The traditional bar area appeared quite pleasant, and was full. We did manage to get a table in the main bar area. The music was not being played as loud as in many of the Belfast pubs we visited. But again this may have been due to the time of day we were there. Didn't try the Whitewater Belfast Ale. But overall I could have quite happily spent a bit more time in here and I didn't think it was quite as bad as previous reviews have said.

biggest kip in ulster. beer has been bad here for years, keep expecting an improvement on the rare occasions where i have to meet someone there. full of horned up culchys who prefer rape to conversation. ex-uni students swear by it though and keep going back. just shows the low standard of pubs in Belfast generally.

Was there a few weeks ago! An experience I won't forget in a hurry. Service was prompt, beer was dreadful and the agression from punters rivaled that of any SE London pub! Not the Bot I fondly remember. Give it a wide berth.

absolute hell on earth, do not know how anybody could enjoy this place. Far too crowded, poor service and as any women I have been there with have nearly pissed themselves waiting for the bog, would definitely advise anyone against it unless your a Bar Masochist

The Bot is undoubtedly the most popular bar in Belfast, so be sure to check it out if you visit. It has something for everyone - no matter what age you are! Great food, craic, music and the talent's not bad. Why is it busy 'every' night of the week, every week of the year??!!

If you fancy getting groped, or waiting to pee for half an hour in the ladies, or waiting for a drink for an hour, whilst listening to tracks like footloose and the bay watc htheme tune then go here.

As important a pub to Belfast as Davie Byrne's is to Dublin. The haunt of students from time imimorial and referenced in a book I am writing about Queens University. I assume as good as ever and full of memories.

Good bar with good music although i wouldnt recommend the bar to first year student especially on a Saturday nite. The bottom bar i feel is too intimidating for first years as it is frquented by a more older crowd. The top floor whilst it may have good music is too crowded makin the nite seem very frustrating when goin to the bar for a drink

Frequented by Belfast's pale imitation sloanes, desperately poor beer cannot fathom why anyone would recommend it

Not a place to visit unless you are under 23, a preppy student jock type or appreciate the ironic selection of deafeningly loud music played therein. Has one real beer pump and its usually off.

..a nasty psuedo trendy bar with crap pints. Inexplicably popular though with people who drive poverty spec BMW 318i's
Best avoided

This is the premier pub in Northern Ireland. Fantastic pub for Sports and a great craic. It also has its own club 'The Record' upstairs.
The First place of call when visiting Belfast
