Lamp Tavern, Bloxwichback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
The Lamp was the first of 4 Bloxwich pubs sampled for our West Midlands visit on Monday night. It's a Holdens pub that was serving Black Country Mild, Black Country Bitter & Golden Glow. The central bar has a lounge-like area on one side and more of a bar on the other. Felt like a true locals boozer. But it didn't feel like the cleanest pub you'd ever go in. But that was maybe simple because the interior is quite worn.

Good Holdens beer but pretty ropey decoratively, not terribly welcoming, landlady pulled pint, gave price then just stuck her hand out.

The pub is small, but stands on its own as is named after the fact the the land over the road was a colliery last century. It is open plan, with a lounge that includes Titanic memorabilia and a bar that has darts and an area set up for karaoke. As Duckstein says, this can get loud, but i have only been in once when its on. The whole pub seems to shake every now and then, i think they have some generator in the cellar or something - a bit of a weird feeling

When I visited there was ear splitting karaoke, so had a half and left. Beer OK though.

Seemed a little frosty whe we first started going in here, however, it now seems very friendly and probably for us, the best pub in Bloxwich. It serves Holdens - the Mild is fantastic and very cheap - what more can i ask for to slake my thirst after a day in the dusty parchment

Well done whoever nominated this pub, have been going in here for the last 12 months and it gets better and friendlier each time.Had a pint of Holdens mild on a recent trip to watch Bloxwich Utd play and it'll go down in History as one of the finest pints i've ever had.
