Poplar Farm Inn, Andoverback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I've lives around this area for years but never been in this boozer. Now, I wish I hadn't bothered.i don't normally take to much notice of other comments on here as I prefer to make my own mind up. On this occasion I agree with most of the comments. This pub looks great from the outside but it is truly awful. Avoid.

On the way down to the New Forest last week, my wife and I had been hungry for miles, and we came upon this place. Although a Vintage Inn, at least you know what you get. Hence we were not too surprised to find our way into the car park blocked by a bl**dy great Brakes Bros delivery truck. Just wanting a simple meal ,we ordered a main and a pudding. The mains were barely adequate, but just then a large birthday party arrived, and that was it as far as the rest of the place was concerned. Having waited about twenty minutes for our desserts, we gave up - perhaps the chef was having trouble opening the packet. Deciding to leave, we went to the bar to pay but had to wait for another customer to settle his bill. Explaining why we were giving up, we received fulsome apologies (sic) and a deduction of 20 per cent of the bill. It then became obvious why the last word the previous customer had received from the waitress had been 'apologise'. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

This pub looks great and promises to deliver. However........
Stay away! I have visited four times in six months before saying what I think.
They have a good selection of ales but they are often tired and stale. It is apparent that people don't drink enough of the real ale and as such it goes off. The staff are young and rude when you ask for another pint. At one point I was refused another pint because I had 'complained already' unbelievable!
Poor beer. Hot glasses. Dreadful pub.
And another point, the food is dreadful. I appreciate that this is all about beer but the food is terrible too. No axe to grind honest. Just want a decent pint of ale for my hard earned coins!

Used to be a really good pub back in the 70s. Just a fairly poor restaurant now. Great building, superb location but no atmosphere & no staff.Food was terrible.

I was fairly disappointed with my visit here this wek, the first in 10 years. The pint of Doombar I tried was not well kept (I couldn't bring myself to try the Black Sheep- maybe Old_Boots should try it next time he's down this way as he's a bit of a connoisseur of that particular brewery), service was slow and indifferent and there was no atmosphere. The muzak was irritating. I didn't try the food either but it didn't look anything special. I can't see any reason to come here unless you actually live in Abbots Ann, and then there are other pubs in walking distance.

The actual pub itself is nice and the beer acceptable, a nice pint of Ringwood Best. However the food was probably the worst I've had in a long time. The service was slow after we were told the lunchtime menu left on our table was unvailable we chose fromthe main menu. Nothing complicated, shepherds Pie, chicken and chips etc. It took an hour and a half to come and the quality was awful. We asked to see the Manager and after some pressing the 18 year old who served us said he was actually the Manager! We got some of our money refunded but we had to work for it! Shan't be going back!

I like this pub, OK it's a restaurant with a small drinking area as opposed to a traditional pub, but the food is fine (even if it is 3663) and they know how to keep their beer.
