This pub certainly is not closed now, it is very much open and what a great pub it is, we loved it, we ended up spending all afternoon playing pool here. Okay it was a bit quiet but it was in February, the beer is kept well, it is certainly worth walking straight past the hobby horse to get to this, just on your way to the Old Ship Aground!

When I last visited it was closed with security person living in!

Great food, great service

This is one of the best pubs in Minehead. It is off the beaten track so you don't get all the hoards of butlins mob in there. Nice location near to the sea and has a beer garden out the back. Ale was good too. 10/10

Despite my comment of last July, we did venture back yesterday pulled in by the advertised Sky TV - looking to watch the England v Wales rugby game. No Sky so had to watch the very uninteresting Ireland v Scotland game!
Exmoor Gold, Doombar, Tribute and Otter available at 3.10 a pint - prices only slightly upon a year ago! Plus a 10p discount for CAMRA cards. The Gold was fine. Pub pretty busy but service good.

Had a good pint of Wherry on visit yesterday. Nicely decorated & modernised family establishment. Pub grub on offer. Very quiet on visit (5 'ish Thursday) so no atmosphere but due to size could be a good spot for late evening drinks. The pub sits on the seafront, good for the B&B I guess. Large garden at rear and fair size table area out front. Have to visit again later at night ;)

Agree that this is expensive, 6.20 for 2 pints of Exmoor Gold and Tribute. Other beers include the usual Doom Bar and one other I can't recall.
Reasonable enough if not a little overfurbished. Not a bad garden hidden out back

Reasonable pub with a small range of Cornish themed beers plus the Exmoor Gold. Open and friendly and nicely situated on the front. The beer was in good form. Certainly worth a look.
|
Nice enough pub with outside seating area.
Exmoor Gold, Doombar, Tribute and Cheddar Valley cider on handpump.
Quality was fine but 3.05 a pint in Minehead? Had one, moved on and won't be back.

The Sharp's Doom Bar was very good and the staff welcoming and attentive in this tidy little pub, overlooking the Bristol Channel. The food didn't live up to the prices charged I'm afraid but a good place to stop for a pint or three.
|
Large seafront pub in good location serving well kept Doom Bar and Tribute, plus decent portions of reasonable food. There's a skittle alley available for groups to book.
|
Yes it has re-opened as stated by the previous poster. Exmoor gold ale in excellent form when tried, friendy welcome, recomended.
|
It was certainly open this weekend. We called in for a couple of pints and had a very warm welcome. The Doom Bar and Tribute were both in top condition and so, according to my wife, was her pot of tea. Didn't try the food but the menu looked like typical pub grub.

Appears to have closed down again. Not boarded up, but also not open at all over the Christmas/new year period.
|
Good beer when I visited about a month ago, clean and tidy, did not try the food, but others were clearly enjoying it. Too noisy for my taste, but of course younger customers probably like it like that.
Note that this pub was formerly the RED LION and was closed and boarded up for a long while.
The couple who ran it as the red lion are now running a bar and restaurant nearby called THE WATERFRONT, quay west (past the lifeboat house, right on the edge of town)
