Situated opposite the pier. Not the cheapest of places so attracts more of the arty types and fewer of the riff raff! There were drinkers of all ages on my recent visit. Aptly named pub with no single decorating theme. There is a decking area outside for the warm summer days (if and when they ever arrive). There's also an upstairs area with another bar and the toilets. A good selection of real ales, the Ripple Steam brew was very nice.

Visited this pub as part of good night out in Deal. This place is lively and friendly with a good mix of people. Can't complain about the beer either with a cracking mix of real ales at the bar as well as an intimidating selection of delicious Belgium bottled beers. Good place for a late drink.

Apparently closed owing to a rather unfortunate fire - cause not reported to me but clearly with it being boarded up and no sign of work being undertaken it could be a while before the Bohemian is back on song. A local chap told me that the insurance money's the glitch and he thought it'd only just come through, so patience may yet be rewarded.
|
Not my sort of place- too many loud posers, and a bit 'trying too hard to be cool', but the beer was fine.
|
The Bohemian is the sort of hidden gem that youd walk straight past without giving it a second glance, unless you knew what was inside. And Im glad weve found it helpful friendly staff and an excellent ale selection. Gets 8/10, and I don't give that very often these days...

Great Food spoilt by a rude sh~t of a so called bar manager
|
best pub in Deal - love it - always great music, excellent coice of wine, real ales and proper largers - Food is fab too - never disapointed :-)
|
Modern seafront pub with good beers but often very crowded. If you are on your own at such times it's not much fun, but if you are local or with a crowd then it's one of the places to be.
|
Busy pub on the seafront. Good selection of ales and nice atmosphere.

I can certainly see why "canaryboy" enthuses about this bar.
Four real ales on offer - Woodforde's "Wherry", Young's "Special", Adnam's "Broadside" and Shep's "Whitstable Bay Organic Ale".
A very wide range of interesting aerosols on offer - Stigel has already been mentioned. Staropramen and various other quality European beers are available, backed up by good selection of Flemish & Walloon beers, including all three types of Chimay.
On my next visit, I shall certainly make an afternoon/evening of it and eat there as the food appeared excellent.
O.K., so it's no-smoking, but I can suffer that for a few hours in such a nice atmosphere. The staff were polite, friendly and obviously enjoy working there.
A well deserved 7, which may well get upgraded upon my next sojourn.

Good pub. Great selection of beers, foreign and local, nice decor, pleasant atmosphere and there's the sea if you look out of the window. There should be more pubs like this around and this really is a "must visit" if you're in the area.

Great new Austrian beer on graught called Stigel

Jon & Carleen have totally redecorated the interior of the bar, it is painted and decorated with a very quirky anfun theme, which is pleasing to the eye. i wont say anymore at present, the experience is worth captivating for yourself without any prior knowledge. Another visionary triumph for the Bohemian.
Some great real ales at the moment, Timothy Taylors Landlord, Great Western and Woodefordes wherry. An excellent peach beer on draft too..

Thursday 26th of January 2006 the Bohemian celebrated Australia day. Jon & Carleen prepared Australian food with the help of the Chefs Pete & Tribesy (Aussie)they also got in a range of Austrlian beers. Local Musician Johnathan Wells played a full show of Australian music. Yet again another fantastic night at the Bohemian was had by all.

Visited the Bohemian again last night, the food was once again of excellent standard, there are also some new beers on sale, I tried a banana beer very nice. The Bohemian is a must for any visitor to Deal.
|
What a brilliant pub. A good range of beers, and wines. Looks good and comfortable. And an amazing restaurant upstairs. Go here!

Jon & Carleen have surpassed themselves lately by laying on a beer and food evening, matching beers to foods. A splendid evening of great food prepared by Pete the chef along with some excellent beers and a very intersting talk given by representatives from youngs brewery.

The Bohemian is a very modern, clean and friendly bar/restaurant. The range of Beers both real ale and continental are second to none in Deal. The food in the restaurant is beyond reproach with avaried menu to suit all tastes. The staff are very friendly and proffesional and you will always receive a warm welcome, especially if you are a Norwich City fan....

I agree with all the other comments. I'll never wear my flared trousers in Deal again.

This is the place to be seen in DEAL - excellent beers (including Coopers, VB and Boags all from downunder!) - Lovely food in a beautiful first floor restaurant over looking the sea (include great seafood dishes), with great artwork on walls to view, friendly service from Saffa or Aussie staff - stylish with leather couch too in bar - Homely atmosphere and need to pinch yourself it is in Deal and not in London's West End or Chelsea. Finally a credit to John and Coleen - We reside in Deal and it's the only place we'd go back to time and time again.

The Bohemian brings Deal into the 21st century. Gone are flaired trousers and winged collared shirts. You'd think you were in Covent Garden. Food and selection of beers are great. PS The landlord must be from great stock too!

Great pub just what Deal needed, bring it on! Great food, great wine and beer and run by such a cool Landlord, great funky art courtesy of Coleen. Great spot, what an improvement from the Antwerp! wow! Rachel

It's great. Fantastic food, more wines than you can drink in a month (!!) and great music. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and the furniture is SO stylish and comfortable that I could happily model my lounge on it!

Re-opened June 2003, after being a run down spit and sawdust place called the Antwerp. Now JB and Coleen run it - wonderful! Excellent decor, great foreign beers, both bottled and on tap. Great selection of wines too. Nice and chilled, bluesy / jazz music at quiet times, no idea what they play when it gets busy, you can't hear it!
