Plough Inn, Wellingtonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I'd just like to say that I think the post below that includes the defamatory remarks about The Plough and it's staff is uncalled for. I drink in this pub once a week, so I'm not a regular that sits at the bar and I'm not in any local clique but I have always been made to feel welcome at The Plough. The bar staff, including the Landlord are always friendly and polite. You can see that they do a huge amount for raising money for Help for Heroes as you look around the walls of the bar and they have a wall of photos that shows regulars having fun and enjoying themselves - surely a positive thing in this day and age when the majority of pubs are chains with no soul or charisma. Looking at the reverse of the menu they have a list of events/functions that nurture a local community atmosphere and are diverse enough to keep most people happy - but they also have quiet nights in which you can just sit and enjoy conversation with friends. This is just a warm welcoming pub with decent pub grub that isn't trying to be anything more than a local...and I for one am happy to drink here once a week

Very decent pints of Salopian Shropshire Gold tonight...shame it was the only choice available but it was a Monday night. Friendly enough place.

I have registered on this website for the sole purpose of bringing to attention the horrific night i had with my fiance last night in The Plough Inn. We were in wellington at 11pm with some friends, they took us to the plough inn (we had never been here before). Walking through the dorr the atmosphere was lively so i went to the bar to buy the first round of drinks for me and my fiance i gave a twenty pound note and recieved a 11 pence in change after ordering a pint of lager and glass of wine. I disputed with the bar staff abouth this and got nowhere. I thought lets just finish these "very expensive drinks" and leave as we sat down i saw a man ( around 40) proceed to repeatedly hit a couple of lads and spit on a girl they were with. I rushed straight over to the bar to try to alert the manager to this problem, i approached the same barlady who had ripped me off with the drinks, I asked for the manager who she said was called Edd, she shouted for him, it was the same man that had hit the group of people. I said "you cant just be assaulting people like that" he swore at me repeatedly then swore at my fiance and our friends we were with and said "i'll F**king Kill You". We left immidiatly, i later found out that one of the lads had accidentily knocked a glass over outside in the smoking area and it had smashed.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB !!! PLEASE! I Had an appauling night and my fiance left in tears after being threatend.

It can be a little cliquey in here , you can understand it with all the chavs in wellington , who wouldnt be wary , but it is a friendly local underneath and the guiness is good .

Called in for another look. Only had Old Speckled Hen on but it was fine. Busiest pub I went in on the night apart from The Cock. The dog took an instant dislike to me until I bought a bag of pork scratchings and suddenly he's friendly. You little scruffy mercenary. I like pub dogs/cats they add character to a pub. It's alright in here.

This pub has a sign outside stating that it is "Under New Management". Small horseshoe bar with a small lounge to the left of the entrance. Has another room at the back with a pool table. Two handpumps on the bar, one with Timothy Taylors Landlord and one with a handwritten pumpclip saying Rockin' Rudolph when I called in. I asked the barman who brewed this, he said he thought it was Taylors. I think it was more likely to be the Hardy & Hansons(Greene King) version as Taylors don't really do seasonals, but I had a pint of it anyway. It was pretty good as well. Not a bad little pub in a town full of poor ones. I'll call in again next time I'm in Wellington.
