2nd pub of the day after the Inglenook and it’s this well known local food pub with it’s low ceilings & old timber beams. Sits back from the main road with a large car park to the front and 3 gardens to the rear.
Busy during this Saturday lunchtime visit with most people here for the food, which is available in the bar and in the separate restaurant. A decent ale choice with 5 ales on the hand pumps my choice of Castle Rock’s Harvest Pale Ale was very good. I forget all of the ales but there were at least 2 from the local area.
Another very pleasant pub in the village and we still had 2 more to try before the day was out.

The food for our lunch was pretty good and plentiful. The beer range is a bit dull but my London Pride was in good condition. Fairly nice interior but the service was a little lacking. Not really bad, but the woman in charge had a face permanently like thunder and they made us jump through a few unnecessary hoops.

10 of us had lunch here on sunday after walking...good range of beers and wine list but not many wines by the glass - and difficult to get details of them. The food was good - when it came - good range of choices, tasty and nice fresh veg BUT the service was very slow. Too few staff (or people who knew what they were doing ) half of us had finished their meals by the time the last persons meal arrived - then we had to wait for the veg...and the place wasnt even full!

This would be my choice for a great local. Good beer and atmosphere.

Only 250 yards from Football & Cricket clubs. Food ok, as is beer.

The lamb is a very friendly pub and the staff was very helpful, I would recommend anyone to hold a function i.e. funeral wake here as they put on a lovely spread

Nice pub, a bit posh for my taste but the beer was very good and the food looked ok too.

Lovely pub with great food if you sit in the pub bit. We have visited the restaurant bit once and wouldn't ever again. The only plus is that you are guaranteed a table but service was appalling and menu very limited compared to the choices on the blackboard in the bar. Also options on restaurant menu are much pricier which we wouldn't have minded if the service was good but it wasn't at all. Landlord needs to organise areas for specific waitors/waitresses to ensure consistency of service.

This is a good village pub with nice barmaid/barmen and a great atmosphere for a quite drink in the evening. Down fall is that not many bar people actually now how to pour guinness correctly accept the landlord. Also very little room to find a good table for more than 2 people.

Excellent local drinking hole. Good service. Great at the pram race on Boxing Day!

Excellent local pub withing staggering distance of my parent's house. Reasonable beer, friendly landlord and a restaurant that serves better quality food than I have tasted anywhere else recently. I still dream about the soup I had on Christmas Day 2002...
