CLOSED - now the TWISTED MONKEY

Used to be called Baraka and had a Moroccan theme to it. Now changed its name to Bed and it has some impressive dcor with large stone urns all over the place and a couple of big tiger statues. Its a large space that is split up well with columns, raised areas and bead curtains providing areas that I imagine they will reserve for groups. This does give it the feel of a lap dancing bar which, despite there being a couple in the area, it isnt. The main theme seems to be graffiti with most of the walls covered in murals and other daubings. Target market is clearly the late night revellers and it looks like a decent venue. I called in on a Saturday afternoon and they were showing the World Cup game on three TV screens. Standard lagers plus a Gaymers Cider and an impressive array of spirit bottles.

Nice decor, didn't wait long to get served & music was alright - no need to charge on the door though.. It's not that worth it!!

nice place, Monday nights are very good. drink prices are average, and the place if definitely a great place to go on a night out, nice deco etc.

Decent bar and the music early doors on a Saturday is top notch, not to pricey drinks although still can't see why you should pay to get into a pub

Any place that makes you queue in the rain when there's plenty of room inside deserves to be burned to the ground.
I've no idea why people go in here....don't they know the Irish club is just a short drive away?

Can't understand why anyone wants to go to this place - it charges to get in, the music is awful and the quality of drinks it serves is awful - no real brand labels.

the drink prices are outrageous, especially for soft drinks - J20 was 3, and pint beer was cheaper.

Strange layout its a restaurant with a bar area. Personally prefer it as one big bar as it gets packed at the weekend. Nice interior little on the dingy side. Late opening but stopped the cut through to Area.

All fizz beers, no ales. That says it all. A poor establishment. Nil Points.

Seems to be closed on a Sunday afternoon now, which is a shame.

Much as I love this bar, It is a cool place to just chill, the resident "music man", who is usually on weekends about 3 ish is the reason we usually leave early. he is allergic to lowering the volume on his mic, and his singing is f***ing painful. Too Loud....shame, cos until he comes on, they play a good selection of ambient dance stuff.

in fairness, he did sing Yoshimi by the Flaming Lips last saturday, so though he can't sing, he at least has reasonable taste.

Also, saturday, busy / matchday,
(ok, so the footiw was cancelled but thats another, very sad, story)...two bar staff....they might be cute and very helpful, but thats only when they finally get around to serving you...HIRE MORE SATURDAY STAFF>>>SHOOT THE GUITARIST.

A good addition to Watford's bars and so much better than the other soulless "chrome and leatherette" places that have recently opened around it. Excellent use has been made of the large space with pillars and arches separating smaller well furnished areas. Well stocked bar and attentive staff. Perfect for lazing on a summers afternoon listening to the resident music man but its really an any time of day bar and well worth a visit.

Moroccan styled / theme pub.
Lovely decor, veiled ceiling makes it feel like drinking in a bedouin tent. big comfy sofas.
How authentic it is I could'nt say but the overall vibe is seriously cool....As with all local bars, quiet by day, busy by night....not cheap, bout 2.75 a pint, but worth it for the experience.
