please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Its a real pub! Its fantastic! Friendly and chatty staff and locals.

Good ales, Harveys, Fuller's London Pride and Westerham Brewery Grasshopper and I can vouch for the quality of the Harveys and the Grasshopper.

Good no nonsense food at no nonsense prices.

Its off the A26 just north of Crowborough but the main road no longer goes pat it. It is worth leaving the main road to get to this pub.

Probably the cleanest pub I've ever been in, everything just gleams. Well kept Harveys, a very pretty pub, a lovely open fire, really quite nice.

Lovely old classic pub building with nooks & crannies everywhere. Adnams, London pride & Harveys on, I tried the Adnams and Harveys & they were both good. Food was reasonably priced and everyone enjoyed it, I had "wild boar sausages" which were excellent. Bunch of right grumpy locals barricading the bar but I can put up with that.

We arrived bedraggled out of the rain and our group group of 8 was welcomed warmly. We enjoyed a range of food (at reasonable prices) which sustained us for our onward journey. Very pleased given the reviews below.

Pros: Beautiful low-beamed building. Log fires. Polite , efficient and (mostly) friendly service. Nice Harveys on tap.

Cons: Food is frankly poor to average. Roast beef was rubbery, fish and chips looked like they'd been cooked, left and then reheated. Would agree with the previous comments about freezer-fare. Could have done better myself with very little effort.

Such a nice atmosphere in the pub, I really wanted to like it. Can't score it more highly due to the very disappointing food. I will return one day, but not to eat.

A beautiful, low-ceilinged 17century barn pub, serving food. We visited on a lovely sunny spring day, and the pub had just the right level of custom - plenty of tables available outside, but a good 40-50 people dotted about drinking and eating.

We arrived at about 2pm, and walked up to the bar. We were the only customers waiting to be served, and there was nobody behind the bar. After a short time, the barmaid/landlady appeared from the restaurant, and proceeded to tour the tables collecting glasses. She walked past us, and then went outside and continued collecting glasses there, before wandering back inside, past us again, into the kitchen. After another minute or so, she reappeared, and then took a seat with her friends and started chatting! She must have seen us, but for some reason decided not to bother serving us for about five minutes. When we finally were served, the lemonade was completely flat and tasted very odd. She also asked us in a very offhand way "You aren't hoping to eat, are you, because the restaurant's shut". We weren't intending to eat, but to shut the restaurant at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon is pretty odd, especially as the food serving hours on the board behind her suggested that service should still be going on for a little while yet.

In summary - a pleasant enough building, but the service was pretty woeful, and the quality of the drink very much lacking.

I visited this pub for the first time today and have every intention of returning as I can not praise it enough. Absolute BLISS knowing my lunch was not going to be interupted by some ignorant soul who can't stay off their phone for 5 minutes.

The locals were very friendly and chatty & the landlord and landlady were absolutely charming.

Would have to disagree with the comments about the menu being limited to 'freezer fare' and chips and salad. Out of our party of four only one, a child, had anything with chips.

I had one of the best roasts I've ever had. 3 large thick slices of beef, roast potatoes that had clearly been peeled and freshly cooked in the kitchen. Same deal with the veg.

The other 2 both had some very meaty pieces of haddock.

I wouldl highly recommend it to anyone.

I had not visited The Boars Head for many years (not, I think, since the road past it was re-routed, which really dates me). I therefore feared the worst when I dropped in the other day, expecting to find the place changed beyond recognition, and, as is usually the case, all for the worse.
I was amazed and delighed to find that it was pretty well exactly as I had remembered it. The landlady seemed extremely pleasant, and the locals very civilised. The Harveys and the Adnms were both in good nick when we were there; we didn't sample the food, so I can't comment on that.
I shall certainly aim not to leave it so long before my next visit. Well worth finding your way off the main road for.

This is a lovely looking 17th century inn just off of the A26. There are some benches outside the front door in nice surroundings and there is also a non-smoking patio area around the side of the pub with some fantastic views. The pub is just far enough away from the main road for the noise of the cars to not be a problem if you are sitting outside.

I spotted 4 real ales, although one was off, and a limited lager selection. The Landlady was authoritative, but very friendly with it. There is a strict no mobile phone policy and any breach of the rules will be met with a fine that is given to charity. There are a few mobiles nailed to a board at the entrance of the pub just to remind people.

This is a great pub to stop off at if you are passing it on a long journey although it did shut at 14:30 whilst I was there. The landlady informed me that they shut every afternoon as there is not much trade around this time, although they will stay open if there is football or a popular sporting event on. She still served me just after closing though as I didnt know and I was sitting outside Result!

I felt that a lot of care had been put into the pub and I would go back if in the area.
