Currently changing hands - forget about food or even useful opening hours! Walked 3.5 miles along the canal to find it shut on a Saturday afternoon! However, we found the Stockton Working Men's Club a mile or so away - a wonderful place.

A 'Help for Heroe's' (sic) collecting box atop the bar greeted us as we entered and this is something of a ramshackle place with kids running about everywhere and a very mediocre choice of ales (crosses himself as he mentions 'Greene King IPA'). The garden is pleasant although cars infringe upon the nicer bit along the Grand Union Canal. All this sais, a majestic hand painted map of the Canal runs along the top of the bar and is a thing of true wonder.

I read the latest CAMRA Heart of Warwickshire Newsletter today and it is closed apparently.

So good they reviewed it 3 times!
This is one of the better canal-side pubs. 4 real ales, good food, friendly staff (usually Matt), and it's open all day. There is a fantastic hand painted map of the local canal network (apparently painted by Dusty Miller) above the bar.
This pub is also on the 63 bus route which runs from Leamington to Rugby every hour.

Funny little place. The Barman was wearing a Hoodie-cum-Beanie hat, and looked somewhat vacant! Not sure that I wanted to spend time or money in here, so had a swift Hooky (reasonable nick) and legged it!
