decent pub to watch the football in. plenty of screens (and a pool table. )

pub itself isnt spectacular, but the staff were friendly and a bit of banter put a smile on our faces, which goes a long way.

Gastro pub style. Ale was decent enough though,

Came in here for a quite pint and to watch the rugby on Sunday. Didn't expect much, but it was surprisingly bad; Inattentive staff who seemed busy ignoring each other, both looked fairly hungover - but that's fine, it was a Sunday morning and that's what Sunday mornings are for.

However; why not try taking all the burnt-out candles and completely empty pepper shakers off the table presumably you put candles and condiments out on tables, but there were no eaters, 6 drinkers and candles and comically filled salt and peppers everywhere. Mad wobbly tables - not ohh-better-pop-a-beer-mat-under-that-corner wobbly, more like lose-half-your-pint-by-putting-your-glass-down-then-lose-the-rest-because-it's-stuck-to-the-table wobbly. The decor was second to none - I think I counted 11 dead bulbs (the assumption could be made that a set of lights were off, had it not been for their infrequent placement), the empty lampshades blocking the only natural light out, the grimly sticky tables, chairs and floors, the two empty foot high glass vases resting on the back of my leather sofa, that made a peeling sound as I picked them up to make sure that I was indeed seeing good chunks of mould in the bottom of (one of) them. inside the vases were dead candles and a pepper shaker.

Best bits; The a4 sheets of printer paper advertising your Six Nations themed "bombs" (Best one? The french, called "Azzurri"). And the pained look of dislike on the face of the guy behind the bar as I left after I asked him to fix the table, clean the table, if I could borrow some spray and a cloth to clean my chair, for a clean glass for my pint, for him to take his pepper, candles and nasty vases back.

Been recommended to me and others and has three screens for simultaneous sportification.

Nice little pub. friendly. Not particularly remarkable, but does what it does very well.

Was at The Normanby over the May long weekend, GREAT place! Really good atmosphere, had a real buzz about the place. Really friendly staff who were always there when we needed topping up. I had one of the burgers and it was delish. Will definitely be heading south of the river again soon!

We stumbled upon this place recently and will definitely be going back. Its a hidden gem away from all the chain bars on the high street. A great pub to go to in the summer as the garden gets all the sun and great food too!

I went to the Normanby last night with a group of friends and it was great - the atmosphere was lively and it's lots busier than it used to be. Great music and we loved the pool tables. I noticed they also now have lots of screens up so it's going to be a great place for watching the World Cup over the next few weeks. I have visited this place on and off since it opened a few years ago and you can see the owners have worked to get it where it is. On top of all that, friendly staff and a good wine list - would highly recommend to anyone.

went to the Normanby recently on a saturday afternoon. The place was a real pleasant surprise, great food - we all had burgers, great drinks - not the current trend for ridiculous putney pricing!, friendly service and a real buz about the place. the pool table was busy so we didn't manage to get on but the sun was beating down in the little back garden area so we were all happy. I was pursaded to go by a local fan of the place but i'll def now be back - hence taking the time to write this. A great local, by the park.

The best pub in Putney along with the Half Moon. Great food, great service and the prices are slightly lower than the stupidly inflated river view pubs which without exception lack any sort of atmosphere.

Maybe good for rugby, but rubbish for service in either getting food or drink out of the gromless bar staff was a virtual impossibility. We finally got the former, ordered the latter of which there was no recollection when we asked where the food was 20 minutes later. Decor wise the soul of a good pub has been ripped out, a genuine waste of space.

We needed a place to stop and watch the rugby on our way to another function. Found the Normanby online and headed there. We were pleasantly surprised to find a nice atmosphere, good food and drink, warm and cheerful service. Things in scarce supply sometimes in so-called gastro pubs. The lucky inhabitants of Putney! We had a very enjoyable visit and will come again. A pub experience in stark contrast to the one found next day in Hampstead!

Just moved to the area - charming pub! Great to have a friendly local pub showing Sky sports. Also, the pool table is a great feature - you don't come across them enough these days!! Impressive range of hot bar snacks and great selection of lagers...

completely soul-less bar that may once have been a decent pub

i can't bring myself to trust a pub where you rent the pool table by the hour.

Attended this place on a crowded Monday quiz night. It did some things well and some things less well. On the plus side, the decor was first rate - really smart and modern and a cut above most gastro-pubs; there was only one ale (Adnams) but it was well-served, and the quiz was very entertaining. On the negative side, service was a bit slow (it could do with some more staff) and the food was a bit of a joke - they had clearly run out of top halves of burger buns and were using two bottom halves - it was like something out of 'The Restaurant' and pretty unpalatable - they ought to have taken the burger off the menu instead. I think with time this could improve to be pretty good.

I shouldnt have liked it in here but the friendly landlady, low dance music and general surroundings all seemed to work together to make this place very pleasant.

Being a gastro pub it isnt surprising that lots of premium lagers are available along with a token ale (Adnams).

I would pop in again, but only if I was going out for something to eat.

Really impressed with this place - friendly manager and staff, and the food was excellent. Well worth a visit
