Re-opened but poor. Don't go there

Booked and paid a deposit for a Christmas Meal for a group of pensioners before the floods. We postponed our meal until they could reopen, no signs of them ever reopening , they won't answer our calls or letters. Lost our deposits. Extremely disappointed.

Sad to see that the Allerford is still closed due to unfortunate flooding! We love this pub, hope to see them up and running again soon or in a new location which we will be visiting often :)

Poor, flooded, still closed

I booked a table at this pub a few weeks ago, it came highly recommended and after looking at the website i thought it would be ideal for my family. It definitely lived up to expectations, nicely decorated, good evening music which created a lovely atmosphere, as well as the staff being very friendly and helpful and the food being excellent! I was very pleased and i would recommend the Allerford to anyone, we will definitely be back again soon :)

Allerford Inn is a lovely large pub resturant with great food, the carvery in particular is WOW and my kids love to go there for sunday lunch. All freshly cooked and meat is always wonderful, the staff are friendly and helpful. I would highly reccomend this pub !!! :)

A largish pub clearly set up for food. Break Bros (or someone similar) provide all the necessaries and the chef (or kitchen manager as they get called nowadays) works the microves to perfection. Service generally poor, poor choice of ales. All in all not a great deal going for this place. Suitable for those for who like there food to be plain and simple and unexceptional.

Made a return visit after a year or so, seemed very quiet and new staff the carvery still on but, today had a change ordered the fish, chips peas and salad. What a nightmare. compared to the fish i'd seen 12 months before????. A small fish overcooked batter on one side and, under cooked batter on the other. the chips/bits as well were awful and, the salad was just a few mixed leaves dressed in what tasted very much like a curry dressing. I speak as I find and, I find this a disaster.. I noted the roast potatoes being refilled and they were swimming in oil as they were being put on the hotplate..Definitely a swing for the worse on the food front for me..very overpriced for what i had considering the food was from the bottom of the frozen food range.

Had a very nice lunch in here on the recent Bank Holiday Monday. Very friendly landlord and staff, nice decor inside the place and the food was excellent. Our group had a selection of steaks, fish and the carvery and all were exactly as we'd hoped. My old man's only complaint was that they'd allowed him to pile his own plate too high at the carvery.
Nice garden too. Only one real ale on tap, but 6X is a nice pint.
One of the better pubs I've visited in the area for sure.

hit and miss as the Victory, now overpriced as the Allerford :(

Have now made a few trips this pub and, have seen and, heard comments on various meals. An extremely large salad appeared once on a nice hot day, looked very tempting and the the Jumbo cod looked the part also, in the main the majority of the people i have seen going for the 5 carvery.and the place has been well patronised. As for the plastic menu comments, some restaurants do SET menus others daily specials, plat de jours,or focus on there particular speciality.or even a variety for the area.Thats the way of the marketing world, but then again a lot better than your chain pubs selling overpriced microwave food. How do i know i used to sell it to them and yes they still go in these places and think it's brilliant. However this place is a lovely setting and not crowded and has it's niche in the market place.

plastic food pub ,,,,,,( when i say plastic food pub , it means same food all the time menu set and not exciting in anyway nothing to write home about ,, but the food was 7/10 pub grub,, best thing about it its a eating house for food allday theres more tables in this plase that the parson could preach about

Bigger than you think from outside, but a nice setting and very well done interior. I found the place to be light and airy and plenty of space between tables,The young staff were efficient and polite. The Menu's seem to range across the board from pub to restaurant style standard and price, with something for everyone. I found the over 50's menu idea a nice little touch, although the majority of us in there today were over 50. I enjoyed my carvery meal as we all did in our party of four. yes i'll go back and try something else, but not the high price end, these prices i expect in a Pukka high class/michelin staring type restaurant. Additionally i must agree on the portion size also

What a lovely pub in a lovely setting. It is difficult to find for the first time, but once we found it, my husband and I think that it is one of Somerset's best kept secrets. The staff are lovely and the food matches. What a range to choose from. We eat on a lunchtime and find the portion sizes are hearty and the food is very tasty. We brought our son for his 30th birthday and had a lovely evening meal. Credit where credit is due.

Have gone here three times since the change and find it nice enough!! Always tend to order the same thing as its my favorite!!
Though was dissapointed this evening when it wasn't as hot as it could be, couldn've done with a few more minutes in the pan ... or microwave. AMazing portion sizes, could barely squeeze in dessert.
Will happily come back, keep it up.

Took the whole family (23 of us) and mum for Mothers Day evening meal. Had a wonderful time. Carvery was fantastic as was the service and the quality of the other meals. Made to feel really welcome by the staff. it's beautifully done out now. Would recommend a visit!

NAF in every respect. Just not worth the effort of going there for any reason.
|
It should be noted that Blodwin actually works at a nearby pub (royal oak) and his discription of this place is a fair discription of the pub where he works
|
Excellent pub, well worth the journey and money for the variety and the quality of the food and service.
|
Used to be called the Victory (under which name it is also listed) It's a kind of bland middle of the road dining pub somewhere off the beaten track, and really not worth the effort of going to. All the charm of an out of season holiday camp bar.
