If the food and service was as bad as you say. why did you pay the full bill? What are they goig to do? Sue you?

Cold/tough inedible food, poor customer service, surly and unhelpful management.

We have just had the unfortunate experience of eating at the Sun Inn, the meal started with promise when the starters arrived and where very satisfactory. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal and the service did not continue in the same way. The tomato ketchup for the children did not materialise until they had nearly finished their meal, and only when we requested it for the third time.

After the first course the empty plates remained on the table for 10 minutes with no staff in site even though we where the only party in the restaurant. The main course arrived, of the five meals two had to be sent back because they where cold and when we started eating the roast meat (beef and turkey) was extremely tough. The boiled potatoes had a very unpleasant consistency and taste. The salmon was fine but the white wine sauce was nonexistent and the new potatoes were the same inedible ones that were served with the roast meat. In all, the meal was so unpalatable that we decided to complain and not brave the deserts for fear of further disappointment.

Upon airing our views regarding the inferior food and service we requested that the bill be adjusted to reflect this, we were met by a very unapologetic manager who basically told us that he did not care as he thought that the food was up to his standards and would not agree to any kind of reduction.

Clearly, his regards for his customers is as low as his establishments culinary standards. My father, who paid for the bill, summed up perfectly the Sun Inn Experience as..a waste of a hundred pounds!

Well run and welcoming pub even during quiet afternoon visit, usual selection of drinks , clean and bright decor.

Arrived at 2pm on a weekday afternoon so perhaps not the best time to judge the place. A few Mums with their toddlers in the large garden. The barmaid took ages to bother to come around to serve us. "Is everything alright?". Well clearly not as it was 28c outside and we were gasping. The inside of the pub was just about deserted. The Harveys was starting to turn but just about drinkable which was a shame. I just wanted a simple tuna mayo sandwich but it turned up with chips hence the 6+ price . Surely thin sliced bread has no place in a pub sandwich? Sorry but we won't be hurrying back.

Well run and child friendly country pub. Quite a large place, extending back - giving a modern spacious feel to what is essentially a 300 year old pub. Serves Harvey's Bitter so gets extra points from me. Pub meals around 9. Restaurant meals a few quid more. Cheesy Chips are 2.50. Front bar has some charm with the open fire. Big car park and beer garden out back. OK place if visiting the steam railway nearby.

The pub looks to have been nicely refurbished and has a good menu. The high prices dont however seem to reflect the quality of the food or the service based on our recent visit.
Even though there were only 4 groups in the restaurant our food took over an hour to arrive and one of the other groups in the restaurant sent all there food back and finally left without eating anything.
Complaints to the Manager were met with disdain.
Its a shame because it looks like it could be a nice place, but the management and staff don't seem to have a clue.

This lively village pub has lost some of its charm through refurbishment and extension, but it's great to see such places doing well. Plenty of people in for the jazz duo and Sunday lunch. Nice pint of Harveys too.
