Fantastic bar, great food and lovely staff
Was there for the England world cup game last week, great atmosphere and the perfect place to watch sports. They have created the perfect mix of sports bar / restaurant / cocktail bar easily beats any other venue in west London.
A++++++++++

Long ago it was a big tatty pub called the Halfway House, halfway between Fulham's old desperate self and the new smart upwardly-mobile image the suburb presents. Then it changed, cleaned up its act and became the Chancery, taking over the clientele of a nearby wine bar at the top of Munster Road that has, I suspect, vanished long since.

Woke up this morning with the worst hangover since university thanks to a fantastic day & night at the Chancery! Went there to watch England play in the six nations and stayed for the ireland game. I have to say the atmosphere was amazing, full to capacity and a great crowd........Food was good, drinks were good and great eye candy behind the bar...... Best bar in Fulham....10 out of 10

I absolutely loved it. Food was amazing, the staff was great. Big screen , great for rugby season!
Thought it was too big, but it's really cozy. It must be very pleasant during summer because of its big garden !
Looking forward to next time. I'll be back soon.

I came here for a Sunday roast and ordering the food is a complete mission as half the staff don't speak english, let alone understand the menu, everything takes ages. The food and drink is quite pricey considering its a quiet pub, the roast beef when it arrived was the most repulsive meat I have ever seen, in fact you couldn't call it meat, we were all served with 3 peices of fat, hideous and certianly wouldn't go back.

this pub has a lovely interior - there is even a stained glass window.
there is a reasonable selection of beers.
the staff are friendly.
the pub quiz is FREE and you might even win some wine!

Have visited this place a few times since it reopened.
All-in-all have been reasonably impressed. Beer is kept well, if a little on the pricey side, and the couple of things I've order (snacks and sandwiches) have been pretty good - in fact the steak sandwich was great.
I'd agree with the comment about the problem of a lack of atmosphere because its so large. However, its summer and its got a great beer garden so who cares.

been waiting a long time for this place to open and was very pleased with what has been done. for a large open space it is very cozy, if that makes any sense. lots of dark wood and light walls, low lighting and candles. drink prices are fairly standard for this area, good spirit range ( millers gin, a rare find ), they seemed to have stayed away from the normal pub brands and put a bit of thought into their collection. food was good ( the wife and i both had the burger , which was fresh and flavourful ). slightly dissapointed to be told by the manager that they won't be showing live football, but am assured that they will be showing the rugby. all in all a very pleasant place and looking forward to spending a long hot summer in the garden.

Service from Ryan at the bar was hopeless, he couldn't even muster a smile which destroyed my first high expectations of this long awaited pub.
Ordered the chicken caesar with dressing on the side -it arrived dry, no dressing on the side, with white lettuce and anchovies 5 times the size of the tiny chicken pieces. No other ingredients. How delicious.
The non-english speaking waiter made life difficult, the house white wasn't cold and I left feeling horribly disappointed. This place could be brilliant if the right staff were recruited and the food was of a much better standard.

Good stuff to hear its reopening I used to love this place (even with the biggest mouse infestaion I have ever seen)!
|
been loads of work going on and looks very promising. new owners. spoke to decorators and it is opening this week (14th Feb)! Finally!

Still nothing - the builders came to put some more boards up on the windows, and thats it - We have noticed recently a To Let sign has been put up, so I assume the deal fell through and they're looking for a new occupier.
|
rumour has it that this is just about to be refurbished and opened up again soon. Please don't turn it into another Salisbury Tavern! This area is so desperate for a decent pub, not a grotty local full of pikeys and chavs and not a pretentious load of grot like those stuck up hovels on the munster road!

I've never been here, but we've just bought a flat very close to this pub - it's currently shut down and being gutted/renovated, and I really hope it gets re-opened as good as it appears to have been before. *fingers crossed* as there aren't many good locals around that part of Fulham (see Wilton Arms, Frog & Forget me not...etc)

Hard to beat The Chancery if you're anywhere near Fulham. Really good wine list at reasonable prices, relaxed sociable pub, lovely staff.

Terrible service, dead quite and took me ages to get served, kept getting ignored.
Calum - 15 Nov 2003 16:12 |
Never too crowded and a great relaxed atmosphere, a great place to catch up with your mates.
Have only eaten here once and it was decidedly average, so have never tried again; but then it isn't trying to be a restaurant, is it?

Great pub, nice atmosphere, friendly, excellent staff, would like to have a wider selection of beers on tap, run by the lovely manager, Eva. Reccommended if you're up for trying something not so traditional.

Good food, but a bit pricey. Used to have two-for-one on meals on thursdays making it cracking value. Sadly no more! Different decor, although slightly soulless.

What a brilliant pub. Disco at the weekends. Bloody good service and staff that know what they are doing.Only negative is change of management some dodgy foreign bird that loves herself.Get rid before it's too late. Rest of the bar staff o.k.Food is still pretty good and standard has been kept up since opening.

From The Management
Thanks to our customers for their encouraging comments about our pub. Just to let you all know we are now open until 12 every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and until 11.30 Sunday. You just need to get in before 10.30.
See you there, Andy
Andrew D'Arcy - 30 Aug 2003 11:40 |
It's not a gastro or a wine bar, it's a nice boozer! It's got London Pride on draught and all. Manager Andy and his staff are starlike.
Ali White - 20 Aug 2003 13:29 |
The Chancery is a gastro pub/Wine bar that's a bit rough round the edges, it's massive and feels comfortable even when it's crowded. We had a really good night out there on Friday. They don't rush you out at 5 past eleven either. Andy, the manager came over and introduced himself. We were really impressed.
Loreta - 9 Aug 2003 23:01 |
Really nice pub. Pilsner Urquell and table service. Great place to chill out with friends. Would be even better if they had a late license.
anonymous - 7 Aug 2003 18:10 |
Always full of lovely young ladies. Quite sophisticated but not expensive. Bottle of Pinot 11. Staff are quite fit too.
Shiela - 2 Aug 2003 08:18 |
Used to be called Front Room, was rubbish. Now full of ladies drinking wine and nasty Nick from Big Brother as well as yuppie Fulham types. Not too expensive, clean and tidy, staff are really good. Sells Pilsner Urquell for 2.70 a pint, good enough for me.
James L - 8 Jul 2003 21:32 |
This place is really well run. Relaxed and chilled with table service for drinks and food. Gastro style but not too posh. Very comfortable furniture.
Chris Guy - 5 Jul 2003 08:50 |
Best outside drinking area in Fulham, top service, food and staff.
