NOW FULLY OPEN. We went on the occasion of the Beer and Buses weekend and the staff were great and the beers from Yates, Plain and Upham were on good form. Recommended.
|
Sadly closed at present.

Sorry to tell you all but the past 21 year landlady has been forced out by Enterprise Inns and HMRC, may be open again next year???

Sadly the pub's gone back a few paces. Still not bad, but it's been superseded by the nearby bugle. More expensive now and most locals have switched.

Busy tourist pub that serves a reasonable pint - about the best of them Yarmouth

Visited here on Monday during a Day visit to the I.O.W. Old Peculier, Doombar and Otter were available. I went for Otter as I had never tried it before, although the beer was kept well I am afraid the beer was not to my palate, still I saw it off. Nice friendly staff and interesting interior, well Worth a return Visit, but I cannot agree with baddypurt, I think that the Bugle was the best pub in the local area but this was the runner up.

Probably the best Pub in Yarmouth, and probbly the oldest, with probably the best ham and eggs to die for, but with the absolute best log fire on the island!!!
|
A pleasent pub had a Yates beer on at 3 a pint.Lowenbrau was an astonishing 4.80 a pint. Our visit was spoiled somewhat by plastic tennis fans giving you funny looks for talking at the bar while the Wimbledon final was on

A traditional pub in the centre of the town. The bar is in the centre with 2 lounges on either side. 3 real ales on the bar but a rather predictable selection. Seating includes large sofas and wooden chairs with large wooden tables. Lounge has a large stone fireplace. Food is reasonable but the main menu items are rather dear.

I agree with the previous posters. This was the best pub we tried in Yarmouth (well, better than the Wheatsheaf anyway!). As the last of 10 pubs we tried on Sunday, this was the only one to sell real cider - Westons Old Rosie. Sadly for me, the pump is situated behind a pillar and next to the white wine dispenser! So I missed out. The 4 ales on were Yates Holy Joe, Otter Bitter, Wells Bombardier & Sharps Doom Bar. The pub has plenty of character. There are low beamed ceilings and there is a huge fireplace on one side of the bar. It is divided into 3 sections, with one windowless room at the rear, whilst the other 2 both have access to the bar. It is popular with diners and also seemingly with boat owners who have moored their vessels in the nearby harbour. Our second favourite pub of our day trip to the island.

Best pub in Yarmouth...very much a locals pub, with well kept beer and good food....worth a visit..
|
This is currently the best pub in Yarmouth. End of.
|
Busy 16th century pub with open fire. Chalk picture of Yarmouth in days of sail on blackboard. 3 real ales. I had Yates Holy Joe brewed on Island. Free pastry nibbles on bar. Reasonably priced food served quickly.
|
Overall the best of a very expensive bunch of pubs. Cornish Coaster was rather too cold however.
|
Nice pub with good service and good beer (Yates Holy Joe on my visit). Food ok, but not great.
|
Good pub which serves good quality beer.
Customers are a bit on the "posh and loud" side which can get annoying if you are neither!
|
Another vote for Holy Joe! And the food is simply superb. Always well presented and a good choice of different specials, this is one pub on the island I always insist on visiting at least once during our holidays.
|
Popped in for lunch here today before our ferry ride. Top notch! Holy Joe is a wonderful session ale that matched the honest selection of pub food available. Food was reasonably priced and good quality with good sides (salad and chips) served with all sandwiches. They also do Old Rosie Scrumpy Cider on tap. Very comfy with a small outside and friendly and welcoming staff. Recommended while in Yarmouth and 10/10 while waiting for the ferry.
|
Had a few pints of Yates Holy Joe which is an ale I hadn't encountered before and a fine pint it was too. Low ceilings so mind your head. Didn't try the food but the prices seem pretty reasonable e.g 6.00 for Sunday lunch. Best pub in Yarmouth.

Super duper place to go!
Your dog is welcome too.
If you're vegetarian - try the fahitas.
Great calm atmosphere and friendly locals

Yes this was busy as we tried to eatr here on the BH Saturday before getting the ferry back to Lymmington. To their credit they managed to accomodate us by saying that this reserved table was available until 8.30 from whence it was booked. Another table was similarly occupied nearby. Enjoyed our fish meal and a good pint. Would return

This is my favorite pub in Yarmouth. Has a selection of ales, usually kept well. Does tend to get busy at weekends, but is to be expected. Its the best pub in Yarmouth. And whilst I'm here, please please please don't do what the Wheatsheaf did a few years ago and have a generic wine bar overhaul. It would kill the place. Its smashing the way it is.
