Now under new management and considerably improved from my last visit. Rebellion IPA and Timothy Taylor Landlord on handpump. Food available again (though I didn't eat there). Few customers, though, while I was there (but 6.30 pm Friday is possibly not a good time to judge).

Visited Saturday about 1.30 pm. Pub empty when I arrived (another customer came later). Kitchen closed. Only 1 real ale. Just one (uninterested) person serving. Pub website has disappeared.
Seems the owners are selling up. I fear for the future of this once very good pub.

Busy on a Wednesday night and the influence of The Royal Standard crowd can be seen with the dark wooden interior, low lighting and eclectic furniture. The Chiltern Brewery Pure Gold was in great nick and the 18th century cartoons and lazy pub cat were further nice touches. Seeing Lowenbrau on tap gave the evening a surreal 'moment-in-time-from-the-80s (or 90s)' feel.

I think this pub may have changed hands again earlier this year. It's now run by the same people as the nearby Royal Standard of England. But it is still fairly quiet and failed to hit the mark. Sunday lunch was fairly average and drinks were expensive. Two real ales are served - Chiltern Ale from the Chiltern brewery and Penn Village Ale, which I believe is made for them by Rebellion. The highlight was Bridge Farm Traditional Farmhouse cider from the fridge. Lovely location overlooking the village pond. But fails to make the most of it.

Pub changed hands a few weeks back and there's apparently been a significant uplift in business. The place has been very quiet for a good few years. Locals say the previous landlord wasn't too popular for a few reasons, but the new couple have seemingly regenerated the place quickly. Local ale Rebellion IPA accompanies Youngs Bitter (new) and London Pride. Nice to sit outside 'cos the front gets the early evening sun. Don't know about food... usual pub menu on offer for average prices.

Well-kept ales, Youngs Bitter, Pride & Greene King IPA. Does food, seemingly usual pub fare. Old-style pub, supposedly goes back a few hundred years..! Two bars, public & comfortable lounge bar. Good location opposite village pond & common but shame about the main road that separates the pub from them..! Thought bar would have been a bit busier during early-doors, but maybe there's some reason for that.
