I Was in this Bier keller way back in 1980, cant remember to much from that night in particular, but went back to Manchester just 6mths ago and spoke to a coloured girl + bloke at door in aft although it was closed at that time,This is the only Bier Keller in Manchester just remember it was big pint jugs back then, this place opened up in 1976/77 Not changed any from then i heard.

I REMEMBER GOING INTO THIS PLACE WAY BACK IN 1980, WITH MY BROTHER BUT I CANT REMEMBER MUCH OF LEAVING LATE ON (SCARY) NO SERIOUSLY I WAS YOUNG AT THE TIME 20 YEARS OF AGE, BUT WAS A BIT DINGY, WAS BACK DOWN IN MAN/CHTER IN SEP 2006 LAST YEAR WHEN I WALKED PAST IT THROUGH THE DAY, A GIRL AT DOOR TOLD ME THAT IT HAD OPENED WAY BACK IN 1977 (MEMORIES EH) LAGER I DRANK BUT DONT REALLY DRINK THE STUFF, MUCH PREFER DARK BEER OR HALVES (SHORTS AS U SAY HERE) WELL BONNIE SCOTLAND TAE YEH AND MAY GOD BLESS YER COTTON SOCKS.

Had a party here and yes its dingy, but the life size model of Lothar Matthaus more than made up for the interior. My impression of Andreas Brehme did not go well though especially as one of the waiters looked a little like Peter Shilton, and attempting to lob him with a packet of pork scratchings aided with a deflection off my mate did not go down to well with the doormen, or my head consequently hitting the pavement!

v. scary old dinner lady type bar staff. floor bad for heels. dingey. can't think of anything good about it...erm there are lots of tables.

Grim venue. Scary barstaff. Woeful selection of beer for a 'bierkller'. Dark, dingy basement....attracts a fairly shabby crowd. Has lots of bands nights on. It would have to be something pretty special to lure me back to this hole

my last post on this place was censored/blocked by the webmaster :-) I'll try to be more polite. It tends to attract people who want to drink 2 litre steins of p*ss-poor german lager that is flat by the time you get it... and im including women here. It usually kicks off at the weekend at least twice. Aside from that, its ok!

wat a great night!! went last nite (Saturday) and it was one of, if not the best night out ive had in Manchester for a long while!! blow the tuba with your mouth closed!!

On Saturday nights a German theme bar with a no holes barred policy. Fridays and week nights anything from dub/reggae to live bands and punk.

This pub may be closed during the day, but it hosts some of the best gigs going on in Manchester. It is a really atmospheric place with stone walls, wooden benches, dim lighting etc... The beer is excelent; specialist lager straight out of tha barrel. And of course their famous 2 pint glasses!

The Bier Keller has definatly NOT closed down Mr 'Kev H'. Can I please ask where you found out this bogus information?
