Old fashioned pub, without much in the way of real ale. Try hard with a happy hour and cheap meals. Nothing special, but a step up from chain pubs and King Street. Has a certain camp quality.

pleasant local pub, with free pool table all the time and free juke box during the week. A proper local with friendly bar staff. Will definitely be going back.

I thought this pub may be a little rough but I was quite surprised. A nice pub to have a game of pool and a bit of darts. Had a guest ale on tap which was not so bad - I think the reviews are a little harsh on this one as the King Street selection are far poorer.

Noisy and poor quality beer

OK if you wanna be deafened by the Cecil B De Mille sized TV when a football match is on ???
Don`t try the ale unless you need a dose of the runs.
Trixie the barmaid is its only saving grace.

Thebman - you've just about summed it up, although I cannot see how it warrants 7/10. I have also noticed that "fran" has recommended several pubs in the locality, yet not vindicated the recommendations by posting any comments - a somewhat pointless excercise, if you ask me.
Whoops - nearly forgot 3/10, and that's only because I like Trixie.

Friendly locals pub just a short walk from the town center. They have bombadier but I wouldn't really trust the ale as it's usually vinegar. Really good range of spirits though.
