2 ales on during our recent visit, I had Jennings 'Cocker Hoop' [ decent pint]

Amiable barman, quite quiet on our recent visit but served a decent pint of Ringwood's 'Boon Doggle'.

Along with the Mug House several door up, which I had previously visited but not reviewed, the Cock & Magpie has a lovely location next to the River Severn. As I remember, these pubs used to flood in years gone by. From the outside, the pub looks like a traditional boozer. It has 2 rooms. The larger one is in use as a bar. The other is for diners. Whilst we didn't try the dining room, the bar is kitted out with some rather strange furniture. I'm told that the ladies was quite unique too. I didn't visit the gents. It seemed to work. Whilst not traditional, it didn't ruin the experience. 6 Nations rugby was showing on the television. Ales were Marston's EPA, Ringwood Boon Doggle & Thwaites Wainwright.

Nice pub, friendly staff, dog friendly and has San Miguel on draft. Long seat in left hand bar is a bit reminiscent of a waiting room (see previous review)

Was not really impressed with this pub, had a pint of EPA which wasn't bad [also had Cocker-hoop on] but the interior decor gives the impression it wants to be a waiting room on a railway station.
|
very nicely decorated and kept, a nice selection of beers too. Theres a jazz/blues night upstairs ( I think) on selected nights....a nice change to the low cost Witherspoons up the road! Feb 2010

Visited a few months ago, was def impressed with interior and quality of the pub. Had never been when in old condition but as last review, you really should try again if you have the same opinion as Millay

since last review has been renovated to a very high standard indeed, well worth sampling if in the area you ?

A rather shabby pub in a good location on the banks of the River Severn. It's flanked by tea rooms but seems to make little effort to attract the tourist trade itself. Visited Oct 06
