Rural pub in a lovely, quiet hamlet and an ideal stop after a walk around the Chidham peninsular. Nice to see 6 handpumps dispensing an excellent selection of ales, Ringwood Best, Doom Bar, London Pride, Otter Amber, Langton Chidham Best and Bowman Swift One. The main meals looked very good as well. Excellent cream tea with freshly made scones kept the wife happy! Well worth seeking out.

Nice garden. Average beer. Staff only really interested if you're eating. In other words like 90% of British pubs.

Revisited after a long absence. Clearly nicely refurbished since last I was here. Nicely kept beer and pleasant staff

Albeit infrequently, my husband and I have visited the Old House at Home since the early 70's and always found it comfortable and inviting. Not this time, though....
We arrived about 30 minutes after midday and there were only a handful of people there, one of them an elderly regular. We sat at a small table with our drinks and the landlady/manageress (?) asked if we were having lunch, but we told her we weren't sure at that time.
As the "pub" filled, and before my husband had finished his pint of beer, we were asked again if we intended to eat because, if we didn't, the table would be needed for potential eating customers and we would be required to vacate it. However, the landlady suggested that we could sit on one of the half-dozen bar stools available if we wanted to stay!
OK, I accept things change but, since it's been revamped, it can't in any way be described as a pub -it's just another restaurant, but with small bar facility!
We felt embarrassed and intimidated. So, we had no alternative but to leave. What a disappointment that such a nice old pub is now just another "bums-on-seats" place!

Had dinner here once and the beer was superb also. Four beers on the go and of the 3 I tried they were all good (Black Sheep, Triple F and another which I cant remember), didnt try London Pride as I can get that almost anywhere in London. Had liver & bacon for dinner which was excellent also.
Pub was rammed when we arrived but cleared as the night went on and finished the evening talking to the landlord over a few single malts. Nice!

A proper village local, yet to be tainted or adorned with fishing nets on the walls, with drizzled lobster pots. Bar is a hubbub of gentle conversation and laughter, interruped at times bythe squawking protest of people who have allowed their mobile phones to ring (and a pox on them) being executed in the car park.

Good range of ales, pulled by staff that know what they are doing. Excellent food, friendly service, locals adorned in "White Stuff" fleeces talk sailing, dogs snooze, logs crackle and spit in the winter.

My company regularly has its Christmas lunch there, which is a bonus. 2009 no different.

Please don't ever spoil this pub. I'd take it home to Norfolk with me in the twinkling of an eye. Sailings better there as well...
