Old Quay Inn, Truroback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Perhaps I expected to much from the idylic outside but the inside, instead of being a quaint old pub, was something more akin to a bistro. There is a large empty area in the bar which would be more use as seating. Having said that we were made very welcome, including our two dogs. The food was ok but expensive and the ale choice was unimaginative given the amount of new breweries in Cornwall. Does every pub in Cornwall have to sell a beer from a brewery beginning with S? There was one exception to this, a cask on the bar selling a beer from Nottingham but it was too warm and I felt a bit past its best. The address is of course wrong but as stelladrinker highlighted this in 2008 I don't hold any hope it will be corrected. Trouble is anyone looking for a pub in or near this village will not find it on BITE; they wouldn't be putting Truro into the search location.

We were last here 2 years ago when we stayed in Devoran.
Friendly enough, without being warm.
The menu was geared towards seafood, which is understandable given the location. We all had good enough meals, but they were small.
Nice enough, but we won't be back.

This village pub has greatly improved under the current management (a couple who used to run the Pandora Inn until 2009). Lots of social activities on different nights, including music sessions and quizzes, make it friendlier and less cliquey than it used to me. The managers make a real effort to welcome everyone, not just regulars. The food is on the expensive side but nonetheless very good value in my experience; indeed such is the demand for food now that it is a good idea to reserve a table for dinner, even on a quiet Monday night. Local beers are Doom Bar and Stoggs. Having lost its post office and shop, Devoran is lucky to retain a pub as well-managed and sociable as this.

Met up with some friends here a few Saturdays ago. A busy little place in a nice location with fine views over the creek below. Three ales available - Doom Bar, Stogs and Bass - I stuck to the local two which were nice enough. As there were no tables inside when we arrived (very busy with diners - food looked good but perhaps the prices were a little on the high side for a pub), we used the garden to the rear which was divided up into small terrace areas - quite pleasant. Worth popping in if you're in the area

Pub is not in Truro but 6 miles away in the beautiful creekside village of Devoran. What makes this place is the wonderful setting, particularly in the summer. Parking is very limited so get there early in the evening for a space. Pub has been taken over several times in the last 5 years with varying levels of service. However, service/drink/food is ok.

Pretty pub, good beer and welcome. Good views, too.

Nice pub.Great views from the front over the creek.Usually at least a couple of real ales.Ate here recently and food excellent.Puds outstanding.Exceptional wine list and all bottles on display.Rear beer garden in terraces.Spend a happy summer hour in the garden. Has changed hands a few times recently and service not always as good as the fare on offer.Hopefully will revert back to the village local it always was soon?
