Very busy well worn town centre pub with about 8 or 9 ales on. The Yeovil brew I had here was the best of the day. Definitely the best in town for choice and quality of ale in LB.

Don't understand the low rating for this place. I found it to be one of the nicest pubs I've been in for a while. Good range of ales at reasonable prices. Very good & highly recommended.

Great pub with 8 or 9 ales on when I visited today. Only had time to sample 2 of them and both were excellent. Pub decor is very pleasant.

The best pub in Leighton buzzard & one the the best ever. Plenty of real ales & ciders, 90 Belgian beers & a good few German beers topped off with no TVs or music or food & a nice garden to boot!! A proper pub!!!!

After the recent refurb (January 2014) this place is just lovely. There's now a great, ever changing selection of 8 real ales, 6 ciders and dozens of beers from Belgium. Have only stuck to the ales so far, but everything has been well kept and not too expensive at £3.00 a pint. No food is available at present although they do have signs up saying you can bring your own - not sure whether this extends to hot and cold. Service and clientele have so far been fine; I mention this because Leighton Buzzard can sometimes get a bit weird after dark!

My first occasion to drink in LB,and i found this hostelry to be very friendly and hospitable.highly recommended

yeah good pub meet some friends there for a chat, fairly quiet but was 3 in the afternoon, nice glass of wine.would return if in town again
|
nice cold pint of lager seemed some nice ppl, in there, might use again staying locally for work
|
not bad town centre pub, good for the bus route

One of the few pubs in Leighton i would drink in. But i dont recomend the food. Reasonable beer at fair prices and a great garden area. gave it a 6/10 because the food was terrible on every occasion i've eaten there.

have been back to the Black Lion after its refurb! was about 2 years ago.... had stopped going to the pub as it was really run down,, but WOW ... what a difference the refurb has made!! Went from a dark dingy cave to a beautifuly brighter , cleaner, stylish pub! the Garden was a car park with very badly damaged benches,,, now has new furniture and is now is pleasure to be in. loads of plants & totaly repaved! Loved the BBQ on Saturday! I looked at the previous comment from beer lover, found the facebook link. have a look! search for blacklion LB on face book and see for yourself!
Only negative comment from me is,,,,,,,,,,,,, was a sunny day and the garden was packed & could have had one more staff member on.
|
love this pub! has 2 sky boxes,,, so could watch 2 footy games at once! perfect for me! footy fanatic! great atmosphere & a great garden! also have found the pubs face book! do a search for blacklion LB. You will see what i mean about the garden!
my new local when i am in the Buzzard area!

Nice beer garden, good refurb indoors. As with a lot of the pubs in the town centre, unfortunately ruined by the sub-human alco-chavs snarling in the corners.
|
Despite its recent refurbishment it is still a busy towncentre pub with no pretensions.Cross section of customers from the local winos,market-stall holders to local estate agents. Beer is so-so,food mass produced and the decor becoming filthy already. The service is below average with barstaff wanting to stand and chat to regulars,or each other, rather than make you feel welcome. Apart from that,...you make your own mind up.
|
Went in there the other lunchtime, had to cough through a wall of smoke then waited 15mins to get a drink while the bar staff did everything but serve. Cheap beer but doesn't compensate for dark and dirty surroundings...
|
Went in there once recently, all I can say is bring back the old Black lion, wasnt impressed at all

tend to agree with the negative comments made about this pub, beer always seems to be slightly warm and has a tendancy to smell of egg.....unless one has a cast iron stomach it would be wise to avoid........

Nice clean pub we visited on a shopping trip.Beer was great and so was the service. We had two chilli dishes, the chilli portions were microscopic, just enough to fill an ant!!!
