Marston's pub in a residential area next to the railway station. Ringwood Best Bitter was on. But the ale range was slightly more varied than most Marston's pubs with Ringwood Best, Courage Directors, Young's Bitter & Wychwood Dirty Tackle also on. They also had Cheddar Valley cider. The pub is fairly cosy and is split over a couple of levels. Near the bar are some old baker's ovens left over from the premises use as a bakehouse. It was quiet, with just a couple of customers. But it hadn't long opened (only open at evenings during the week). Not a bad pub at all.

Went in one Thursday night, what a treat. They have a 'Jazz Vinyl night' on the first Thursday of every month. Had a lovely meal, lovely well kept ales, and listened to the Jazz. What more could you ask. best pub ive been in for a long time.

we have now tried six times to be part of the Bakers Arms - living so close, wanted to make it our local but - no chance - the attitude is absolutely abysmal.
Each time we have 'tried' go have a meal - well you get - no welcome - no eye contact - you wonder why you have walked into this place. This has been over the past four years - how sad.
First in earlier time , loads of empty tables, said we wanted to eat, told all tables booked. We were very early and said we would be eaten and gone before all people would be there but no =no room at the inn. Got distinct feeling we were not wanted there. Other times told - not cooking tonight despite an A board outside stating meals on sale.
The final straw was this Tuesday gone - we said we would try one more time - I actually sat in the car whilst my husband went to ask if they were serving (this was 6.00pm). On the side there was a chalk board saying meals from 6pm, also the young girl behind the bar, who was very friendly, confirmed they were. So I parked up and we went in. A woman came from the back and said no cooking until 6.30. we said but we have just been told you start at six. She literally waked away and went back into the rear Poor girl behind the bar was embarrassed.
I thought people were in tough times especially these small pubs. If this is the way the public are treated then yes they will go off to Whetherspoons and the like where food and drink are of a reasonable price, and you are treated with some respect as a customer.
We really are saddened by this behaviour by the owners - I make an assumption- as I can not explain it any other way - owners retired with funds available so buy a pub and have no worries if you only have a select customer base.
We will not try again.

i was very impressed with both the hospitality given to myself and my family by Ray and Kay, and also the food which was served to us. They were absolutely welcoming and friendly and i can say the locals were also very chatty and friendly to us.
I would be very happy if this pub was my local but i don't live in the area.

I can support the other good reviews for the Bakers Arms. From two pleasant evening visits we found cheerful service, well kept Ringwood Best and Fortyniner and a good range of nicely cooked and interesting pub food.

Really excellent traditional local. Run by a friendly older couple (Ray & Kay) who are ex-Eldridge Pope tenants, The pub is now badged as a Ringwood Freehouse. The pub sold 5 excellent cask ales and a traditional cider on my visit. The pub serves good (but basic) pub grub type food and has some interesting memrobilia on the walls as well as the original bakers ovens from when it was a working bakery. Closed Mondays.
Worth a visit if in Dorchester.

Excellent example of a quality suburban / residential area pub. Situated 5 mins walk from the station (south - away from town centre side).
A very nice feel inside - partly due to it being on a corner plot and therefore L shaped with the food area down a few steps. Nice lighting / furnishing etc. Interesting tiled wall has original (?) baker's ovens etc.
Four Marston's beers on - two from Ringwood and two guest ones. Tried both of the guests and both were very nice.

A good locals pub, not far from South station and totally outclasses the Station pub on the other side of the railway. Well worth the extra walk. Much improved since the turn of the century and a welcoming ale house now. Superbly kept Ringwood Fortyniner is probably the highlight but an interesting selection of seasonal ales tend to be available including some from Wychwood. Get some Hobgoblin in, please!!

Great Pub. Great Beers, Great Food. Worth a visit, especially Curry night on a tuesday
