I did not enjoy my one and only cock and hen experience. The staff were extremely rude, the beers expensive and the food overpriced for the quality. I ordered fish and chips for 9 which was riddled with bones and when i sent it back the manager argued that it was standard practise in the uk for battered fish to have the bones in it.

I went in with a group for a bit of breakfast but the ratio of food/service to cost was not positive. Probably wont be going back for a while.

So this place has been taken over by Young's? Well if that means that the food and the quality of the beer changes as much as it has then I hope more pubs go the same way. We popped in last Tuesday for a pint and ended up wobbling out after five or six pints, a jager bomb and a massive club sandwich. I'm loving the English bar maid with the piercing and the Estonian girl who knows about the beers, We''l be back for Sunday sessions in the big seat by the fire!

What a crying shame that they have sold out to Youngs but I will still frequent the pub until the changeover in March and until then thoroughly enjoy the excellent Adnams Old Ale as well as their ownbrews on handpump which will doubtless be replaced by Youngs/Wells insipid beer! Congratulations however to the excellent bar staff including the lovely lass from Estonia who knows all about not serving ale in hot glasses - unlike the apparently longserving barmaid and co-licensee at a well known Harveys establishment in Borough!

Teskea, there have been recent reviews but they are on the Cock [closed] page. I hope they continue to brew as in today's Publican trade paper it's reported that the pub has just been sold to Youngs. Nice pub for the area.

A great pub, I'm suprised there are no reviews on this yet. They brew their own beer (light and dark) which is fantastic and they a wide variety of others from around the world. The staff have got a quirky air about them and the service is almost American! (GREAT!)
