Halsetown Inn, Halsetownback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Disappointing visit last Sunday afternoon. Yes, it's a characterful multi-roomed pub with an eclectic mixture of furniture but it's mainly laid out for dining (we were directed to sit at one table even though it was 4pm and the place was virtually empty) and the solitary Sharps Atlantic was poor enough for me to leave it unfinished.

A Free house.
A pleasant looking pub on a sharp bend on the Penzance to St Ives road. Internally the space is split into four main areas with a smallish bar area warmed by an open fire. Two beers on draft at time of visit, Doom and Betty Stogs, both in good condition. Warm welcome from the licensee and, unusually for a pub near St Ives, the price of beer is reasonable.
The other three areas are given over to dining and the pub has a good local reputation for food.
Large car park. Worth a visit if passing.

A rural, roadside inn, with an attractive ivy-clad exterior, about a mile out of St Ives. There are four rooms inside, one of which is a designated dining area. Another houses a pool table. Overall, the interior is quite plainly decorated, the simplicity of the place contributing to its subdued feel when we called late afternoon.
There were three hand pumps in the bar, but only �Doombar� on offer. That fact combined with a rather tired pint suggested there might be a problem with turnover.
The landlord appeared rather shy, but he was friendly and welcoming. His dog Peggy was a great hit with my daughters.
Food seemed to be the lifeblood of the place, but nothing on the menu tempted us to eat there.
It�s hard to comment on the atmosphere when there were only six people in the place. Maybe it comes to life on an evening when the diners and locals appear? However on the basis of our visit there was nothing that made us want to return.

Diamond of a pub - opened up at 10am especially so I could watch England thrash Australia. Good pub grub and well kept beer. Place is very friendly - have been going here since I was about 10 (not drinking at that time obviously)
