It was full of unwelcoming wannabe gangsters who aspired to be Vinnie Jones...

CLOSED
After months of no support from the brewery (Youngs) (for example refusing to repair the heating). Two very cold winters later the landlady gave up the unequal struggle and left. Shame.

Full of inbred scum floggin off their daughters for a pint. Fugly.

i have been a regular user of this pub, for years, and it has a bad name for The last few years, until now that is. The current landlady has done a great job getting this pub back on it's feet, and cleaned up what was once a rough pub. Well done! Youngs should be proud, and give you their full backing.
regular entertainment, and karaoke nights, friendly bar staff, GREAT FOOD! GREAT BEER, the clientel are lively and freindly, perhaps a little rough around the edges, but never-the-less a freindly lot.
HATS OFF THE TO LANDLADY, FOR GETTING THIS PUB BACK TO IT'S FORMER GLORY!

pikey pub full of foul mouth fly tippers.

a lovely pub new landlady (14 month ) trying her best to up hold the law ( not like some pubs in area )clean ,friendly and a very nice pint of youngs finest bitter! live singers, football, beer garden front & back , cheap food helpful staff made you very welcome ,good view of cricket green . after the reputaion of the pub "youngs" should be very pleased with its new tenants well done will be visiting on a regular basis ...

My experience of this pub on a recent visit to Mitcham is that it has deteriorated dramatically. The Youngs bitter was absolutely dire, the barman moody and the decor has seen far better days. It's a great shame as the pub could make more of its central position. If you really want to visit this place for a drink, take some manic depressive friends along to cheer you up.

Rather uninspiring Youngs pub, but in a nice location overlooking the cricket pitch. Note the interesting pictures of old cricketers over the bar - Don Bradman, Ted Dexter and other famous faces. Unfortunately that is the only concession to any cricketing theme - which didn't extend to showing the Test Match against the West Indies at Lords the other week when I was in.
The pub has a rather down market feel to it - even for Sarf Lunnon - and I don't see myself doing this one again for some time

I drank here from the mid 70s to 93. Charlie Cromack was publcan for a long period. Has a long history dating back to early Mitcham. If it now looks like an ikea showroom, young and co should be ashamed.
|
Definately not the best Young's pub visited, with only Young's Bitter and nothing else on tap. Nice location though right opposite the cricket pitch, so we sat outside as it was a nice sunny day.
My Rating 7/10

Totally agree with Rob G on this one, the place is exacly like an Ikea showroom, I went in there a few weeks ago, and I must say, it was so unwelcoming it was unbelievable. As I walked in I got the evil stares from everyone, and then someone came up to me with a mic and expected me to sing! Awful, I will never go again, call this a youngs house??!!!

Best beer that I found in Mitcham, but not a great deal else to commend the place (unless you're a fan of black and white photos of old cricketers).
|
One of the main meeting areas for the Mitcham Chav that alone is reason enough to avoid this pub
|
Absolute dump like a lot of pubs in the area unfortunately. Lovely buildings but run down and rough. Better off drinking in the pubs between Colliers Wood and Tooting.

Once a really good small Youngs local, quiet room at the back, sport on TV up one end for big matches, garden for the kids. Landlord before last (2002-2004) put cheap loud TVs everywhere so you couldn't escape the sport and ran karaoke discos most weekends. Then he took out the traditional furniture and did it up like an Ikea showroom! Bizarre! All the regulars deserted, and with the new crowd came druggies and fights. That landlord left under a cloud and Youngs have now taken over directly and kicked out the troublemakers, but the place has not yet recovered.
