New landlord Hari and his family have been in since November, and at last it is returning to be a proper pub. Money ha been spent on the interior with new very comfortable seating and tables, new lighting and a painted both inside and out.
Recently Sky Sports has been added with two very large TV's.
But most imprtantly the feel of the place is now friendly and secure. The beer is very good, at the moment Dunbar the only real ale, but other are promised. All the beer is kept very well and the Guinness is brilliant!
There are now quiz nights, regular raffles and a good crowd get, particularly on a Sunday, when it has a very family friendly feel.
It is good at last to see the pub thriving after all these years and a family willing to go the extra mile to make a go of it.
We worth a visit, for a marvellous pint and a good evening out, or just a relax in the large garden at the rear now the weather is improving. Support a great pub!

Closed at the weekend, with sign up saying "Being renovated". Lots of people wandering around outside with paint brushes &c.

Apprently closing down and becoming an Indian restaurant/bar. Good luck to them, one of the town's worst areas .
|
Has a stonking great "To Let" sign outside. Looks like the current tenants/managers have had enough after just a few months :-(
|
It's open again and selling Doom Bar.
|
I hear tell that it is open again but I haven't been in yet so a visit is due and I will report back.

Boarded up again. Surely someone can take this pub on and make a go of it? Nice old building, quite big inside, could have a smashing garden and even has a bit of parking at the front.
What a waste.

Hard to tell for sure, but appears to be closed (again). Curtains drawn, but some signs of life inside. This boozer should be a licence to print money but the locals are a very scary bunch indeed. I suspect it will re-open for a few months, then close, ad nauseum.

Pub was closed when I tried to pop in for a pint a couple of days ago

Yes it looks like this little pub is doomed. It was obviously once an attractive country pub before the housing came along but as has been said it has been killed off by the very people who should be supporting it!! With the Millers Arms gone and the Star now closed, there will soon be no pubs in this end of Caversham which is worrying as the naff clientele will head towards Caversham centre for a beer.

A real shame. Ancient pub that has been overrun by a big council estate. It looks like a dive, big piles of litter and flytipping in the front car park which sparsely populated by the vans of under employed building tradesmen and the scrap cars of the unemployable. No chance for this place.

New landlord a few weeks before Xmas. No real ale, and no immediate plans to get any :-(

Pub reopened late summer 09 after being closed for 6 months. Good start - nice and clean inside (although the toilet is a bit iffy). New manager had a couple of real ales on and they were quite passable. However things have gone downhill in the last few months (end 09). Real ale is barely drinkable and not cheap. Some quite scarey people get in there from time to time and i wonder if the place is going to go downhill fast :-(
One to watch - it could improve but who can say.
