Nice pub but unfortunately Marstons intend to sell it to a pizza company. May close end of August

I've been in here a quite a few times over the years, and it always seemed fair enough.
Glad to read that it seems pretty well the same.

Clocked this from the A4 and then walked back from the Best Western to it. Impressive looking building. Had a quick pint of Ringwood and then continued my walk. Perfectly reasonable boozer.

Large pub on the Bath Road. Outside seating/smoking area.
New landlord has been there about 3 months now. Shortly to close for a refurb of the cellar and kitchen plus, hopefully, the installation of a 4th handpump. Food service will start after the refurb.
Unfortuantely the beers are from the Marstons range (so not the most exciting) but are very reasonably priced at 2.45 to 2.60. Banks's Mild, Marstons Pedigree and Double Drop on offer yesterday.

This pub is open again as of from the posted date
|
AS OF OCT-NOV 2009, THE PUB IS NOW CLOSED.

Not sure who owns this pub but yesterday all 3 pumps had Marstons brewed beers. Banks Original was very drinkable.

Nice little pub on the A44 which always has three ales, including a perennial mild, the brewer of which appears to vary from season to season.
Architecturally interesting (see pics), with good value Sunday lunch. Darts and TV sports also available.
Sun-trap conservatory and beer garden complete the picture.
Enjoyable and worth a stop - a notch above what most of Thatcham has to offer.
