Having stopped by here many times, it's about time I gave this place a review. This is a country pub which depends on people from round about. Its standards have varied over the years, but it has usually been a good, reliable place, with decent drink and food. Today at lunchtime (a Sunday) it was bursting at the seams with people, most of them having a full "Sunday dinner", but they could still make room for a couple that just wanted a sandwich and a drink (me). The drink is undistinguished, and frankly I prefer The Fox 2 miles away at North Waltham (don't even mention the Chef & Brewer down the road!), but the sandwich menu here is much wider and the service is lovely. It is less than a mile from the A303 and is a good, reliable place to stop. 6/10

Yes, what has happened to the Queen Inn? This used to be a pub people travelled to, with a great reputation for food. But when I dropped in on a Saturday lunchtime, looking forward to a sandwich/pub lunch during a long-ish walk, it was all but deserted. It was soon clear why. The interior was dark, the decor very tired (with a lot of 'pub red/floral' carpet) and the air was scented with chip fat. And while the lager was well kept and the the staff were nice, the food was dismal. I had a cheddar sandwich was made with supermarket sliced bread, catering pack 'cheese' and Branston pickle, with a sad looking slice of tomato on the side. To add to the disappointment, it was priced as if it was going to be home-made bread, with local cheddar and pickles. As others have said, it looks as if the Queen Inn has kept its old menu and prices, and let drop its quality and standards. A real shame.

Oh dear. Had been recommended The Queen Inn by a number of people who used to live in the area until recently. How things must have changed. Been in twice and the beer was very disappointing. Warm, poorly kept and I tried all three on tap - London Pride, Courage Best and Directors - not the most inspiring selection in the first place. Had one meal also which was very average. Such a lovely building and great location, it's a shame. Can't fault the service though. I'd happily go back if the beer was worth it.

Lovely staff, nice atmosphere, traditional interior. The food was the main reason to visit this pub previously. Unfortunately I feel the quality and standard has dropped without the prices following. Our last visit had the 'traditional' boiled vegetables with salty saute potatoes on the side, and although the dish was acceptable, there was nothing special about it. I realise it is a pub, but I may as well just go to my local for a pint :) or a Chef-and-Brewer if I want 'pub grub'.

Great food, if somewhat on the expensive side. Fantastic interior. Parking can be a problem as it seems to be always busy. Staff slightly 'too' efficeint and the landlord is either shy or cannot comunicate with customers. Othe than that.....All good.
