A Friday evening here with some work colleagues, being a sunny evening the pub was packed, most punters were outside with the inside being for people that wanted to sit down.

The bouncer placed outside to stop people spilling into the street with their drinks had he's work cut out for him and had to be on he's toes.

Enough bar staff on to deal with the hoards, the ale choice was not great and I'm sure it was on my last visit. Being a Shepherd and Neame pub the 2 ales were Spitfire Gold and Whitstable Bay, the pint of Spitfire Gold was not great so I switched to the Whitstable Bay which was much better and went down pretty well.

We stayed for several hours, spending the last hour inside as it started to rain. The clientele was mainly 20 something's that didn't short of a few quid.

A pleasant evening spent with good company in a nice pub.

A first visit here for me on a Monday afternoon with a work colleague, this was the first pub of an impromptu pub crawl around Mayfair!

The Coach and Horses is a Shepherd and Neame pub and had Whitstable Bay and Spitfire on cask. Not fancying either of these I opted for a bottle of Samuel Adams Rebel IPA.

Just before 4pm when we arrived and it was not very busy, in fact there were more bar staff than punters!

A medium sized pub with a pleasant décor, plenty of wood and mirrors hanging on the walls, above the bar hang brass lanterns there’s also an attractive marble and wood fireplace to the back of the pub.

Nice enough but empty so hard to judge what and if the atmosphere is like when it’s busier.

Visited yesterday. We had the Kents's Best, as it was either that or Spitfire. Beer was of poor quality. the pub has really gone down hill. The bar staff were dressed inappropriately, and what really got my grain was that they were wearing TRAINERS. Something I wouldn't expect from a pub in this area of London.. The interior is dated, and the fellow custom was nothing to write home about. Hence to say I will not be returning.

Went in today - sampled the Kent's Best which was really quite bad. Didn't sample the Spitfire. Bar staff friendly and the place was quiet mid-afternoon.

Paid this pub a visit early yesterday afternoon. It's a fairly pleasant Shepherd Neame pub in Mayfair with fairly restrictive opening hours (closed weekends). A few suits appeared during the course of my stay. They were mainly there to watch the football, and were perfectly well behaved. Spitfire and Kent's Best were the 2 real ales on offer. The wooden bar is fairly attractive, and there is a nice decorative fireplace. The floor is carpeted. As you can see in the picture, one part of the pub juts out into the adjacent Hay's Mews. The entrance on the corner of the Mews is tiled. Food & wine menus can be found on each table. They also advertised their sister pub in the City - the Cock & Woolpack.

Two Shepherd Neame real ales, neither of which was very nice. Bizarre seating arrangement at the back of the bar led us to be barricaded in by obnoxious junior management consultant types who obviously had no proper friends.

Otherwise fairly non-descript. Service was quite good.

Nice well lit interior.

Probably not seen at it's best with lots of loud suits in (all navy and grey with no hint at any taste or individuality). 8 'children' who seemed like graduate's recently recruited by Accenture and their ilk were screaming and shouting in the corner and treating the staff like scum (faux far east lager drinkers to boot).

Had Spitfire and Kent's Best on neither in great shape with a rather nasty after taste. One hopes Kent's best is better than that well served.

Worth a 2nd look not on a Friday early evening but beer need to be better.

Entirely unexceptional and probably the better for it.

Lights a bit bright for my delicate complexion.

Not to be confused with the pub on Bruton St with the same name this is also decent place although has been pretty quiet on my visits including my most recent one. As previous posters have said it's a Shepherd Neame pub ( meaning of course Oranjeboom for the lager drinker). One of many pubs in Mayfair I enjoy.

Proper little pub, Sheps beers, and on reasonable form on my visit. Mainly locals and suits, and a very pleasant atmophere. Much better choice to visit than many in the area.

Has seemed alarmingly quiet recently, which is a bit worrying with all the pubs that are closing. Would recommend this place, well kept Shep Neame beers and a good old school pub. 8/10

Finally found this pub after years of trying to look for it in this site. I enjoyed this boozer when I was back a few years ago. I am sorry I didn't make it one of my locals when I used to go to the Footman, Punchbowl, The Grapes, etc.. many moons ago. It's been a while (2004), but I found the place clean and the staff very pleasant. I will hit when I get back.

Great pub. Good Shepherd Neame beers. One of the best in the area
