On our recent visit to the Wirral we had the pleasure of drowning a few pints in this nice little pub which still boasts a separate bar as in days of old. The Peerless was good as was the Symonds Cider. They've got a beer festival coming up at Easter too.

Cosy pub with a number of separate rooms and a friendly, community feel. 5 real ales were on - Peerless Pale, Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Liverpool Organic Iron Men, Jennings Cumberland Ale & Wells Bombardier. Football was being shown on a TV in the main bar area.

I have been drinking in here since I was about 16, a long time!
It's been through many incarnations but it has never been spoilt from what it always has been - a proper boozer.
Ken and the team run it very well and the ale is consistently good though it seems to get overlooked by the Camra toffs, their loss in my view!
The staff are very pleasant and even knowledgeable about the beers.
Does food on a Sunday I think and the beer garden is a clever use of the space on a very small site. Very good area for the annual beer fest.
The hand pulls seem to change weekly and are always very well kept. The variety is also very good and in this town that is hard to find.
My only problem with it is I live too far away now or I�d spend way more time in here!
I also miss the weird little outdoor toilet that used to be just next door and the phone box which for a while had a squashed frog in the phone book. Ah the old days!
Get in here if you don�t know it and you will be glad you did. Enjoy.

Deceptively large traditional community pub. Easy to find being on the main road though Wallasey Village. Central bar with several rooms of different shapes & sizes makes it interesting. Liverpool Organic Pale Ale (result - one of my faves), 2 Thwaites brews & another I didn't catch the name of. Regular beer & cider festivals this is what a pub should be about. Highly recommended.

Large suburban boozer in the oldest part of Wallasey, on the main road. It's got two main areas, a bar and a lounge (accessed separately), both similar in size and also a large snug accessed from the bar room with its own hatch giving access to the bar, which is central and serves both areas. Pretty unremarkable, opened out rooms but brewery mirrors and other pubby items add a cosy touch. Sky sports on TV. Good beer selection, with Copper Dragon Best Bitter, Deuchars, Theakston Old Peculiar plus guests from Anglo-Dutch microbrewery and another I can't remember- it was Christmas themed. Friendly staff and punters and a real local atmosphere. Serves pub grub until early evening but predominantly a drinker's pub. I enjoyed it and would return- a good bet if in the area.

Quiet when I visited - good pint of Wainwright and several other ales on offer too.

Did not have time to visit on this occasion, but it now appears to have a beer garden up at teh back.
