The Cover Bridge has 7 beers on handpump including regulars Black Sheep Bitter, Theaskston Bitter & Old Peculiar and Timothy Taylor Landlord. Also up to 3 changing guests including Barngates Cat Nap & BAD Comfortably Numb on a recent visit. It has a decent size garden overlooking the River Cover and this year has a splendid flower display planted up by one of the regulars.

Traditional old Yorkshire inn with a small beer garden next to the river Cover. As others say below: a nice range (3 or 4) interesting local ales (e.g. no Black Sheep or Theakstons) and two proper farmhouse ciders. All in good condition and reasonable prices. The food was good value, simple, home cooked and hearty: just the job. Definitely a local pub that does food, rather than anything gastro. The pub looks a little bit rough and ready but friendly and cosy inside (if you can figure out the door handles!). Popular with the no-nonsense locals but friendly enough atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you are an ale drinker or real pub aficionado around Coverdale or Wensleydale.

What a lovely pub in most idyllic countryside. We had Wensleydale Semmerwater summer ale as well as Theaksons OP and both were in excellent condition. Friendly staff and a homely atmosphere.

As ever the Cover Bridge is always worth a visit to discover which 3 guest beers will feature. Usually beers from Yorkshire and often from local micros including Mithrill, Yorkshire Dales, Wensleydale and Walls County Town and in the 3.8 to 4% range.

Called in again while in the area. Previous comment still stands and they've now won CAMRA branch pub of the year.

This is one not to miss if you are in the area. Good beer, good food, friendly staff and a beautiful old Dales pub. Heaven sent!!

Famous old dales inn, noted for its unusual and puzzling door handles. Two regular ales from Black Sheep and Theakstons plus five guests usually from small brewers inYorkshire or the Lake District. The beer is always in superb condition and is served in lined glasses. Hearty meals can be taken in either of the comfortable, traditionally decorated bars with big open fires. Old brewery ads and some good drawings of dales people and places adorn the walls. There is a large car park across the road and the Gents is accessed from outside.

Very cosy and welcoming old pub with a good range of beers and a governor who knows his craft.

Very nice country pub. 7 real ales on when I visited. Good home cooked Sunday Roast, eaten in the very nice beer garden overlooking the river. Well worth a visit. Children's outdoor play area.

Popular pub in good walking country by a picturesque bridge over the river Cover.it takes a modicum of ingenuity to open the door, but having surmounted that hurdle, one finds a classic dales pub with a fire fresh from Hades in the small bar.An interesting and varied range of beers are stocked: when we visited in the Autumn, Black Sheep was partnered by amonst others, Falling Stone, from Wold Top Brewery from Drifield. This struck me as a well flavoured and malty beer, which partnered the ham and eggs for which the pub is famed.
