Happened upon this place on Saturday evening. I'm normally critical of the choice of beer, but as I was in my persona of Des. Driver it didn't matter. Old style East End pub? Well yes, but they had a young girl singing on who was busy making the joint jump. What a fabulous atmosphere! Everyone was having a great time. The singer's mic. broke and she appeared to trip and hurt herself quite badly but in true style got up and continued, willed onward and upward by the lovely crowd. Great evening, fabulous singer (Maddie Cole?). All round, the pub could not have been better. . . . . unless of course I had managed a pint or two! Next time. . . .

As 'DaveC' said in 2003: "Friendly locals' pub... aimed at the older punter", and thankfully nothing much has changed here in the last five years. Only gripe - no real ale (so had to make do with keg Flowers IPA which I haven't had for years, possibly decades). Long may this sort of old-fashioned corner pub continue.

A pub with two names! The Hallsville Tavern also known as "The White House". Friendly locals' pub with live entertainment. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights aimed at the older punter, not for kids. One of the last remaining traditional East End Pubs. Phone 020 7511 1498 for whats on.
