Popped in last night for the first time since it reopened. Beer was very reasoably priced anf=d the staff were very cheerful. I hope it stays like this.

Under new management. New landlady knowledgeable and passionate about real ale.
Decent selection. The Tribute was absolutely perfect and reasonably priced. Long may it continue. Despite its track record in the past this place is worth a try if you appreciate decent beer.

Never been in here before, Ive heard a few things about it though, such as the last landlord trying to turn it into to an ale house but with no success, due to poor beer quality or no ale at all!!

new people have it now and I'm told still serve real ale!

I enter the pub and am greeted with 5 men all swearing and drinking lager, not a good start.

I browse the bar and find real ale pumps but all clips are turned round, I ask if ale is available and am told " No, we got smooth?" No thanks I say and decide to leave.

I cant see me going to The Hare And Hounds again even if they did have ale on, its not my sort of pub.

Still a bit rough around the edges, but I've quite warmed to the 'new' image!

The focus is more on 'entertainment' with live bands over the weekends.

Only 2 of the 4 pumps on during my visit,Robinson's Tit for Tat being the pick.

Worth the deviation when the bands are on....

It has indeed reopened. Going to try it out this week.

I had been told that this place had improved, but I struggle to see much difference in the decor or clientele. However, it did at least have one real ale on unlike my previous visit in 2007 - see four posts down the list. This was a gingerish pint of Sly Fox (with just the name hand-written on a pump clip, and I had to Google it when I returned home to find out that it was from Everards). From what I was told, they do at least seem to try different beers rather than sticking to something dull like Greene King IPA.

The situation when I went past yesterday was very similar to that of rpadam. I have heard all these whispers of a new landlord, an ale lover, billboards outside etc, and I know they did a beer festival back in August (I didn't go, a prior commitment saw to that). Anyway I was going to sneak in here for a libation - instead of 4 handpumps I believe there were 6, but every one was off. Ridiculous. Avoid.

Nice little pub now! New people in (AGAIN!!) but these ones are definatly here to stay - and it shows. Decent, if small, beer garden, quite a selection of lager AND lovely real ales. Apparently the landlord is a real ale drinker so he makes sure there is always at least two real ales on the go. Definatly worth a visit.
